From today's Chgo. Sun-Times about Tim Floyd's recruiting tactics at USC, which the columnist (Greg Couch) finds to be somewhere between surreal and unethical, but maybe necessary to survive at some schools.

<Two of Floyd's players left early for the NBA draft last year. Mayo surely will go this year. And each of these really hurts the almosts, keeps them desperate.>
Hmmmm. Reads like another coach who wants to take the shortcut, recruit rentals and thus have a program wth holes in it every year.
Don't think Tim will be there in another month anyway ... Hear tell Baton Rouge people want him.

For Pete's sake, Wise, just say "Matta" and be done with it. And he's done OK for a guy whose program has "holes in it every year", as we can see--------
Win totals as head coach: 24-26-26-26-20-26-35-19 (so far)
Awards: MCC Coach of the Year (2001), A-10 Coach of the Year (2002), Finalist National Coach of the Year (2002), B10 Coach of the Year (2007)
NCAA: never lost in 1st round, Elite Eight, Finals

He could have been taking about huggins or a vast number of coaches, but he probably means Thad.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Never mentioned his w-l record. But, quite a drop off from 35-19, eh?
Reason being pumped ... "loss of 70% of his offense."
Hmmm , why? Did they graduate? Oh, they were rentals, right?

I'd tell you two to get a room, you're finishing each other's sentences now. Oops, this is a room, sorta.

See, Wise, you only GET to 35 wins by getting to the Finals, something X has never done. But I'm sure in your imaginary world we HAVE gotten to the Finals.
Gillen went from 25 wins in his first year to 15 wins in the regular season in his 2nd year, before a MCC run and NCAA win.
He also went from 22 wins and a 2nd round NCAA loss in '01 to 15 wins and no postseason in '02.
Skip went from 23 wins in his first year to 13 wins in his 2nd year.
So, if you'd ever get over your petulant and childish dislike of Matta, you'd be able to recognize facts. But, until then, you'll be locked into your fantasy world in which everything Xavier is wonderful and everything not Xavier is terrible.
It's kind of sad, actually.

Re: More on the crazy world of college b-ball recruiting
This is how Mr Neutral (?) describes me. He's fifty percent right!
<your fantasy world in which everything Xavier is wonderful and everything not Xavier is terrible. It's kind of sad, actually.>
Yep, thats me ... Xavier is wonderful!
Nope, everything not Xavier is terrible.
What is sad is anyone even thinks they know everything about someone else.
Here's a promise .. if we don't win it all .. Mr Neutral (?) will pound pound pound everything that (in his mind) Sean, the players, the AD, the administration did wrong.
Count on it.
I'm still sweating this thing out. Don't know how many games we have to win in Atlantic City to get off of the "bubble" that Mr Neutral said we'd be when we lost our second game of the season. That 'ol sage!

Re: More on the crazy world of college b-ball recruiting
Yet another example of why you're an idiot, Wise. After our loss to Duke, I didn't say that Matta, the players and the administration did everything wrong, and if there's a similar result this year, I won't do it this year. I thought it was a fabulous run, obviously our best ever, and I wasn't shocked we found a way to lose to Duke. Disappointed, yes, shocked, no.
If we go to the NCAA and stink up the join while losing, yes, I'll probably say we stunk up the joint. If we give up a large lead late in the game for the 3rd consecutive year, I'll probably point that out as well.
If we play well, I'll continue to compliment the players and coaches as I have many times this season, if you'd been paying any attention whatsoever. But for Pollyanas like yourself, we should get praised when we're good and praised when we stink. I don't see it that way. You look at a 22-point loss and go "hey, that just proves how good we are!". I'm embarassed I waste my time arguing with someone of your clearly limited intelligence. Shame on me.

Would you two please stop? Or at least save your energy for our UD friends when they come here this afternoon to brag about getting a high seed in the NIT?
