With all due respect, how a staff writer for the Beaver County & Alleghany Times could have any idea whether a kid is ready to play for the Muskies is beyond me.

Do I hope that Walsh will make a huge impact in his time at XU? Absolutely. Will it be in his freshman year? Maybe, but the odds are against him. At any rate, with the depth of talent we already have on this team to presume that Walsh could make an impact in the NCAA tournament THIS YEAR (as a highschool senior who hasn't practiced a minute with this team much less played a second of D-1 ball) is just plain ludicrous.

Come on man. It is a small town newspaper. The journalist was basically saying BWalsh is a beast.

By the way, do any youtube or other video clips exist of this kid? I think I have viewed clips of all the other incoming freshman but not of BWalsh.

Geesh. It was an article by a small time reporter in a small town paper writing about the local boy done. You might want to lighten up. It's nice to see some positive press about our recruits.

Has Rivals or any other service have a rating on him?

I really didn't mean it that way. I'm glad the kid's getting positive press, and I'm glad he's coming to X. I just meant that the reporter's got an extreme case of hyperbole.

I have problems figuring out where Walsh will fit into the rotation next year.

PG - Lyons, Redford, Jackson
SG - Jackson, Graves, Walsh, Redford (I think a lineup with Lyons and Redford in at the same time could work)
SF - Anderson, Raymond, Walsh

I've never seen him play, but just looking at our depth chart, I see him as 3rd string small foward, and potentially backup or 3rd string at the SG position. If he starts over Jackson next year at SG, more power to him...it would mean we have struck gold. I hope he comes in and lights it up, but I wouldn't expect it.

Some who have seen the Xavier recruits play say that Walsh is the most college ready of all, although I would say Lyons is. Out of the 4 incoming guys I would say Walsh and Lyons will get more minutes then will Redford and Frease due to what Xavier will need and what they bring to the table. Maryland wanted Walsh bad and to many it was a surprise that he picked X, most thought he was a Maryland lock.

When you look at offers compared to our other recruits, Walsh had the most offers from big time programs. Frease had a lot as well, but Walsh was being sought after by some pretty hefty competition. It is impressive that we landed him.

Walsh offers:
Xavier
Duquesne
Maryland
Memphis
Penn State
Pittsburgh
Saint Joseph's
West Virginia

Frease offers:
Xavier
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Notre Dame
Ohio State
West Virginia

Lyons Offers:
Xavier
Buffalo
Clemson
Massachusetts
Siena

Redford Offers:
Xavier
Dayton

If you go by who was offerring scholarships, it would appear Walsh and Frease are the gems of our class. I personally think the team will play Frease alot more than some people are stating on this site as he can bang and guard bigs down low, which as shown against ST. Joes is a weak spot of our defense.

Great class, regardless. The kids we get in keep getting better.
