The Xavier webpage says that the University is closed today, but the game is still on.

Hmmm I found this prominently listed on the Xavier website:

Classes cancelled for Saturday, March 8; University closed; Basketball game still on as scheduled

03/08/08

Due to the severe weather conditions, classes scheduled for Saturday, March 8, have been cancelled. The University is closed. The men's basketball game is set to be played as scheduled. Please check the web site or the weather/emergency hotline at 513-395-8822 for the latest information.

Not to be a nattering nabob of negativity, but I read a report on cincinnati.com that says you can be ticketed or arrested for driving in Hamilton County if the reason you're on the road is not an emergency.

Now, while I think going to Senior Day should qualify as an emergency, what if you run into a cop who is a UC grad? Or is this rule only in effect until a certain time today? If anyone can shed some light on this troubling issue, please do so.

My guess is that the Level 3 emergency is in place not so much for a safety issue, but to get people out of the way of the snow plows. Once the plows can get close to clearing the main roads, the emergency will be lifted. Hopefully, by 4pm.

Could you stop on your way and pick me up? I am 30 miles east of Columbus in the blizzard (only level 2 here). I am still recovering from the Duquesne game when it took us 6 hours to get home on a trip that is usually 2 1/2. Hehe!
