A loss to SJHS

Postby xua01 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 12:27 am

Look everybody, don't get too down on this loss tonight. You have to admit that when you are the number 8 team in college basketball it's awfully hard so late in the season to go on the road and play one of the better Philadelphia high school basketball teams.

I'm joking a little bit and I like St. Joe's program. However, I'm quite sure that there were more fans sitting in a far more impressive arena in the North Dakota State Boy's High School basketball quarter finals tonight than there were in Hawk Hill. This is the reason that Xavier is one loss away from dropping from a 2 to a 5 seed.

St. Joe's has consistently been one of the better programs in the conference for many years, and it sounds like that they are very proud that their little old high school gym is about to become a slightly larger and more modern high school gym. How can you possibly take a conference seriously when watching a nationally televised game take place in that facility, especially when the game consists of the conference's two most premiere teams of the last decade? Think about it, do you honestly think that UNC, Kansas, or UCLA fans who happened to tune in to the game tonight came away at all impressed with the A-10 let alone Xavier? The answer is a resounding "No." Until the A-10 finally commits as a whole to putting the money in to its facilities and coaches it will never truly compete with the power conferences. Frankly, we all want to believe that Xavier is on the cusp of becoming a national power, but it is embarassing losing to such a cute little team. I'm tired of losing to cute little teams.

Who cares where they are playing if you're watching on TV?

How are the sour grapes tasting?

Pretty sour, of course.

To Number One Fan.....
It really burns me when fans of another team sign up on a message board just to gloat. That being said-
Xavier vs St. Joes's 1-1. It isn't like your team won both games.
But, hey, at least your team will get another home game. Have fun in the NIT.

SJU fans can gloat because, well, THEY WON. When X wins, we can gloat. X apparently did everything they needed to do to lose, and did. Don't take your disappointment out on SJU or its fans; they're not the ones who missed the FT's or forced X to turn it over.

St. Joes beat the #8 team last night, they should gloat and we should not be happy at all. Great teams show up every night. That was a lifeless performance by our Muskies.

Congrats to St Joes on a good win.Xavier did not play with a whole lot of fire until it was too late.I'm more disappointed in the effort than the loss.

Agree. Lose while playing well, and I can take it. That performance sucked.
