in our first game in Atlantic City.
Of course things could change this last week, but they seem to have the best chances of being 8 & 9 in the final standings. StL has been some up & down this season, they could get hot in mid-March. I still don't see how in 3 days they can win at St. Joes and lose at home to the Welding School of NY.
As I see it now, we will play either StL or URI

A buddy and I were talking yesterday about Xavier's possible A-10 tourney opponents in that first game and I commented that there were 2 teams I didn't want to play in that first game . . . URI and St. Louis.

OK, who do you want to play.
A real talented and well coached UMass?
St Joe's? Charlotte? GW (two close ones)? And certainly not ud. As with GW, one of the toughtest things in college basketball is to be the same team three times in one season.
That leaves who...Richmond?

that's funny, because as a ud fan i want no part of playing x again. we had our shot at ud arena; x played as poorly as they could and we couldn't get it done.Wisexuowl wrote:OK, who do you want to play.

i know the old adage that it's hard to beat a team three times. regardless, i would much rather face st.louis, who we beat twice, than x, who beat us twice. you guys scare me.

Just like the NCAA tournament or any one-and-done tourney, you are going to play another team fighting for its tournament life. winner goes on, loser goes home. It matters little who you play, it's going to be a tough game. Remember St. Joseph's in the "run" year? I'm sure Jameer Nelson and his cohorts, who had beaten Xavier on Senior Night at Cintas, weren't anticipating a tough game. Instead they got blown out. Face it friends. winning three games in three days is almost as tough as winning four games in four days which Xavier has done twice and no other team has.
You take one game at a time and only look to the next one after the one you're playing is over. There's no sense worrying about it before hand.
