XU/UD Pregame Chatter

Postby jamal4xu » Fri Feb 22, 2008 6:18 am

UD's up next.

Let's start some chatter.

Despite UD's recent struggles, you can't deny that the environment will be hostile and they will be viewing this game as make or break for their NCAA tournament hopes. Having gone 3-7 in their past 10 games (I think?) they need a big win to remain in conversation for an at-large bid, especially since their loss last night to LaSalle.

If you are Miller do you try to isolate Roberts as before? How much attention do you pay to Sandoval? It seems that he more than any one else has stepped up since UD got hit with the injury bug. Speaking of which, any word on whether or not Wright is going to play?

well if you go to UD's board, they are mostly giving us the win also. Its so depressing over there I almost (almost, but not really) feel bad for them.

UD has a message board? I am as likely to visit there as I am to move to Dayton for the fresh air....

If the game is refereed fairly (a big if), then X will take care of business.

This game always scares me, especially at their place. They have a knack for knocking off good teams in their building. In fact they are radically different in Udump compared to on the road.
That being said, if we play our game we should come out ahead, but we haven't lost for a month. Our close wins in hostile environments recently should help. So far we have been the "game of the year" @ Charlotte, St. Louis, and Rhody, all of which we won. Now it's the flyers, with their cutsey FUXU tshirts.
Just go up there and shut them up.

The game scares me because UD needs to right the ship. Who better than to start a turn around against that your Big brother?

It is at Dayton, you never know what will happen there.

UD can still get in by winning the A10 tournament.

But I have the same concern, they are going to play this game like it is their last chance for a successful season.

I see something in this X team that I'm not sure I've seen in years past. Everyone that's on the floor is playing all out and is not letting up in any situation. That's all we can ask for and with their talent level that should be enough to squash a reeling Dayton team.

for us ud fans, losing to lasalle the way they did last night has taken the wind right out of our sails. almost no one thinks we have a chance against x.

looking at the way both teams are playing, ud has no business winning this game. x is better at every position sans roberts, have a deeper bench and a better coach. ud has folded down the stretch in their last three losses by making poor decisions, missing key free throws, and defensively leaving guys wide open for three pointers.

if i were an x fan, i wouldn't even worry about this game. it's in the bag. x should be able to just show up and win by 10+.

however, i am a ud fan. i have seen many times in the last 15 or so years when x brought in a far superior team and left with a loss. x historically doesn't play well at ud arena, and ud has their backs against the wall. all that being said, i predict ud to win in a close game.

Amen,
I've thought the same thing for the last month or so. The one thing that scares me is, I keep thinking of the team that lost to Washington in the NCAA. We had so much promise that year, and it all turned to sh!t in 2 hours because of a bad match up. Just please get thru the first weekend of the Dance. Then go balls to the wall for the Final Four.

1. Unfortunately Chris Wright is still unable to play.

2. Pay as much attention to Sandoval as his grandmother does--wave to him as you go bye-bye.

3. Besides Burrell & Jackson hovering Roberts like Obama's fundraisers, hedge the ball screens w/double teams and force Roberts to pass the ball--at least until their shooting % climbs above the outside temperature.

4. Key question is whether to play Drew at all; I know he wants to play and Miller will let him play to the extent needed, but it makes good sense to allow him to recuperate for a full week given the game now is rather watered down.
