Best Effort of the season

Postby xu roks » Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:24 pm

Wow. I think that this game was our best effort of the season. They all came out with enthusiasm and aggressiveness for the entire game. This has been lacking in the last few games. If they played like they did tonight, no on would be able to stay within 10 points of them. AND, it was primarily done without Drew. This now looks like a team that could roll through the rest of the season and the A-10 tourney.

Last year and the year before that, I thought I would never say this. But I want to be perfectly clear...Stanley Burrell is the straw that stirs this drink. When he plays lockdown D and plays under control on O involving his teammates, this team is virtually unstoppable. May Stanley continue his magic making opponents disappear and pulling rabbits out of proverbial hats. Thank you, Lord, for this team. Good night and good luck.

Hard to say. We looked real good, but the competition makes it difficult to gauge. It was, however, very nice to build and maintain a comfortable lead after the last 4. It'll be weird to have fingernails tomorrow...

12 assists for Stanley tonight! How about that?

The play of the night by Stanley was a drive to the hoop and the big boy came over to block his shot and Burrell flipped the ball to Jason Rose for the slam. I've never seen the air sail out of an opponent as fast as it did after that.

I agree Q. That play came after we had a couple shots blocked. We were able to get the ball back and finally got it outside and I thought we were going to reset the offense. Stanley drove back into the lane immediately. This wasn't one of those out-of-control-jump-before-you-know-what-you're-going-to-do-and-type-a-long-hyphenated-word kind of drives. Stan knew James would pull off Love to try to block his shot and he made the pass before he got to the mid-point of his jump. Love's slam stopped any momentum the dukes could have gain by a good defensive possession and helped his psyche after picking up 2 quick fouls on the other end. It took me 10 minutes to type this.
No, I be concubining.

The only thing that drives me crazy about Stan is, he gets in the air and tries to come up with a pass at least 3 times a game. His defense is phenomenal and his attitude and leadership are solid. He just should be a bit more careful. He also picked up his dribble at halfcourt numerous times tonite but he got out of most of the traps and once even passed under the basket for a slam

Xcellent job of handling the press since they haven't seen much of it this season, and with drew seeing limited time, it was not just one guy against the press but the entire team showed patience and discipline after the first few trips. Thanks to Duquesne for the press practice. Another part of the game Miller has covered. A great coach, teacher!
