Ok, the first is true. Just kidding about the second part. Miller will be coaching at Cintas tonight.

That seems a little premature. Neither ESPN.com or CBSSportsline.com is reporting that Sampson is "fired". The closest I've seen is that he won't coach Saturday against Northwestern, but that his future at IU is as of now still undetermined.

Fox Sports is reporting that Sampson was fired. Since you're a democrat and refuse to read anything associated with Fox, I can understand why you weren't aware of this.

Fox Sports is NOT Fox Noise! So while there is no earthly reason to believe anything that is said on Fox Noise, you can trust Fox Sports.

Anyone wanna cover that he's not gone?
From The Indy Star:
Indiana University officials are spending the afternoon discussing basketball coach Kelvin Sampson's future, with a final decision still expected by Friday.
Athletic director Rick Greenspan will make the final decision, said Mike Sample, IU vice president for public affairs and government relations.
If Greenspan fires Sampson, the coach has 10 days to appeal to school president Michael McRobbie or someone McRobbie's designates to hear the appeal.
Late today, school officials said Web news reports of Sampson's firing were premature, although acknowledged his dismissal is still a viable option.
The NCAA accused IU of five major violations and said Sampson repeatedly lied to investigators about his role, prompting Greenspan's investigation.
Web accounts reported Sampson would not coach IU's game Saturday at Northwestern, and that IU administrators had met with assistant coach Dan Dakich about replacing Sampson on an interim basis.
"Somebody is making assumptions that are not based in fact at this point," MacIntyre said.

They are talking a lot on Indy sports radio this afternoon that Brad Brownell, Sean Miller, and Scott Drew should be the top three picks.
Sampson will be gone one way or another.

Actually, Fox Sports is reporting that sources have said that Sampson is fired, not that Fox can confirm the truth of these reports. The University is, of course, denying it at this point.

As long as I see the source of those reports--Indy sports radio--I'll know that the typical list making by reporters and commentators is in full bloom. This can only hurt Xavier and its program immediately. Another distraction with Duquesne hell-bent-for-leather coming in here for an upset.
Sean Miller will continue to be mentioned with every head coaching job opening in college basketball. And I'm certain he'll ignore them. The clause he had written into his contract says he can't listen to any job offers or contact anyone about an opening or he pays a huge price.
While I'm not naive enough to think the Indiana coaching job is not a good one, I believe the Xavier job has become very good and good enough for someone who has the class coming in Sean has to stay here for a very long time.
The combination of pending probation and other punishments makes the Indiana job a little less attractive at this time. Normally, Indiana would be like a mecca to a college basketball coach. But it is tarnished and to what extent remains to be seen.
Lazy reporters who throw Sean's name in as a "leading candidate" are in a way flattering him and Xavier, but in another way they are doing severe harm at this point in the season.
And when the locals pick up the rumors and suddenly have reliable sources, their motives can be questioned. After all, Xavier had been regarded by the media in this town as second class and what better way to sabotage a season than to insist, "He's gone."

Amen Q .. and I'll just add this.
When its all said and done, just think of the trust future recruits will have when they ask if Sean is going to be their coach while they are at Xavier, and he tells them YES!
