Would it help to let go of this if we had four level labels, Major, midmajor, lowmajor, non-major?

It's just a label. What we do is more important than any label. Label or not, we are winning. Label or not, our RPI makes us a 2/3 seed.

Muskieman is right.......We are mid-major whiners if we obsess on what some talking heads say.

Enjoy this season, we are not guaranteed them forever or every year. Bask, luxuriate...go ahead, nothing can upset you.

<<I hope 4/4 of the final four is 'mid-majors' then.>>

I'll take some of that action if you're offering. I could use the extra $$$.

Stay in the A-10 and you are a Mid-Major. It's not the kiss of death, it is what it is. Your only chance to shed the title is to get in to the Big East. Good luck with that.

X can refuse to be recipient of mid-major awards but apparently not the label. Just a media word, it would be too much to ask, 'what non-$uper-$ize great big giant $tate $chool, funded by great big giant $tate Tax, could go to the Final Four?' It won't go away unless there's a March. Like coach Dale said, it's still 10' to the rim!

When I watch Big Ten, Big East, SEC or ACC basketball I just don't think its any better than watching X play teams in the A10. it wasn't that long ago that the A10 had two teams in the Elite 8.

I saw that piece at halftime also but I did not hear the person who asked the question use the term, "mid-major." I am pleased that I didn't. The responder to the question (whose name I don't remember since it's been over 5 seconds ago) not only suggested Xavier as the answer but also mentioned the seniors and Derrick Brown as a good reason why XU could do it.

I was everything but upset with the result of that take. It did, after all, suggest that Xavier should be considered as a possible Final Four candidate! That's good under any circumstances!

Memphis was NOT part of the question. Last I looked they were in a conference ranked below the A-10.

I could be wrong but I think the question came from an emailer and not from ESPN. So the emailer is simply ignorant. The guy who answered the question said "with those choices, I would go with Xavier" Good answer WITH THOSE CHOICES.

By my count, there are 73 teams included among the Big 6 conferences.

Since 2000, only 22 of these teams had made a Final 4 (removing UofL and Marquette as members of CUSA).

So why do the other 51 teams (70%) get a free pass as a "high major", while the non-big 6 schools get labeled with mid major.

You can't argue that all the FF participants come from the Big 6. For one thing, it's not entirely true, and for another, it paints to many teams with the broader brush.

We need to win a championship and end this crap forever.

True, but 38 of the last 40 have come from the Big Six.

If something happens 38 times out of 40, it's the rule.

If something happens 2 times out of 40, it's the exception.

The numbers say, loud and clear, that non-Big Six schools just haven't gotten it done in the Final Four.
