Re: The one missing thing
The Tennessee game was a huge game for X. Every fan was ready because it was such a highly ranked out of conference team actually coming into the Cintas Center. The game was over the students' Christmas Break and all of the students planned their flights home for after the game so that they could come see it.

Re: The one missing thing
Thanks for filling me in about the Tennessee game. I was overseas and didn't even catch it on TV. Glad to know that the fans came out for that one.
Also, thanks for letting me know that the Charlotte game wasn't as packed as it looked on the broadcast. I couldn't even tell that there was an upper level from the camera angle.
I guess they are still having problems. But that looked pretty intimidating... the lower levels full of students, who seemed to be standing the whole game. They obviously did a free t-shirt night or something.
I'm just all for the sporting events being for the students... or for the occasional alum reliving glory days. I guess I can't change the fact that education, and thereby our university system, became big business a long time ago. We just have a different take on higher education then the rest of the world. And collegiate sports plays a central role... it publicizes, it recruits "customers" and donors, it increases the market value of the "product", in some instances it even generates revenue itself. I just wish the basketball program was more about the students... but if history has taught us anything, you can't fight the wave.
Also, I grew up in Lexington... besides the the crosstown shootout '99, I have never experienced anything quite like what happens in Rupp Arena... for just about any game. I just have to high of expectations, well, in terms of everything. I guess I'm an idealist.

Hey Tacitus I am reading your annals. Good work!
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
