Re: Redford on youtube...
Gary is a guy capable of being a good college player if he does not come out of Chicago, NY, LA etc...? Just checking because I don't think Xavier has a guy on the current roster from those areas either and they seem to be doing just fine.

Well, he can certainly shoot from anywhere. Worst case scenario, he is a 7-8 man to provide a spark off the bench. Best case? We have the next JJ Reddick (albeit a shorter one). This kind of shooting ability just doesn't go away when he comes to college. I think we will see Frease and Redford feed off of each other brilliantly. You won't be able to double team Frease without leaving this kid open.

Re: Redford on youtube...
j, of course, successful college b-ball players can come from anywhere. But check out Redford's competition in those videos. How many of those kids do you think will be playing at big-time schools? And I'm not talking about riding the bench at Univ. of Detroit, I'm talking getting major minutes, if not starting, at top 50 schools.
He may turn out to be a very good player for X, and I hope he does. But college benches are filled with guys who were hotshots at little schools, just like the minor leagues are filled with guys who put up big numbers but can't hit major-league pitching.

Gary, you are correct. There are very good players who sit the bench. You want apples to apples and because Redford doesn't play in a big time conference there is nothing to compare him with.
He made 102 consecutive free throws. 2nd longest in the nation - ever. Does this make him a good college player - NO. It does however make one think and consider the possibilites that he may be a very good basketball player. After all,the basket doesn't change for anyone else playing the game. Why can't 5 star recruits do this? Apples to Apples.
He shoots 46% from 3 point range. And not just 3 point range, but many 5 feet beyond 3 point range. Sometimes he's guarded and sometimes he's not. Many times he's doing it on the run. It still has to go in the hoop.
Give the guy a little credit. And give Sean a little credit too.

Pure shooting knows no level. Miller does'nt expect the kid to create off the bounce. Lyons will be the creator and when not finishing he will kick to the pure shooter.
