New CBS poll/seeding

Postby Theo Huxtable » Mon Feb 11, 2008 12:42 am

Not sure if this is what we were ranked last week but they have Xavier as #9 but that did not include the St Joes win.

If Xavier wins out that would put them at 30-4. Now I think Xavier is actually going to go 26-8 but if they were to win out which is possible do you think they can get that #1 seed? They will be a 2 for sure but is it asking to much to make them a 1? they would have won 22 out of 23 games be something like 8-1 against the top 50. I guess it really depends on how the rest of the power schools do but that would be one impressive resume.

If X wins out, they will be 36-4 and yes, they will be #1.

Theo, where do you see four more losses? OK winning AT St. Joe, AT URI and sweeping the A10 tourney is a pretty tough row to hoe, that's 3 in a worse-case scenario. I think we have a 50-50 chance of winning at least one of those two away games. Are you just assuming we are going to take one "unexpected" loss?

I agree with most in the poll, we will end up a 3 seed.

I think they will lose to RI, St Joes, Charlotte and then one in the A-10 tournament. That is the worse case scenerio. This team has been playing on egg shells and I think they are going to have a very hard time going on the road against some of these very good teams. My heart says they lose to St Joes and charlotte and thats it but I have a very bad feeling they hit a little slump here.

We will NOT lose at RIU or at Charlotte.

The game at St. Joe's will be just like the game Sunday ... a war between two outstanding basketball teams, with outstanding players, and outstanding coaches.

And then they will meet again .. in the finals at Atlantic City.

We will not finish with eight losses.

I said after the ASU loss, (when Mr Neutral (?) stated we'd be a "bubble" team on selection Sunday, and a host of other posters were in the same state of panic with him) that we would go from the then 8-2 to 16-4 (which we did) and then to 24-6 (which we will).

But Theo, we won't lose four more games before Selection Sunday, and we won win ten more games either ... and neither will anyone else in the country save maybe Memphis State in that wuss of a conference, and that is not a smack at MSU, just that there is nobody in the CUSA near their class.

As far as a #1 seed ... no way ... that will be MSU, Kansas, UCLA, and either UNC or Duke.

A #2 is possible ... not likely, but possible.

No one wants to talk about it, but Dayton will be absolutely desperate on Feb 24. Wright and Little will be back. They will be on the bubble, and only a win against us will save them, and Gregory, from permanent emotional distress. Not to mention the frothing, crazed, cumulative humiliations of the past 10 years.

Which is why we will really want to stick it to them, again. But certainly a potential loss. 5-2 will be a good result. 2-1 in the conference tourney, making it to the final, is probable.

AS far as I know, Chris Wright won't be back by the 24th. Little is already back, so pencil him in.

As far as I see it, this team can go 30-4. Is it likely, no. my guess:

@ Charlotte W
@ Rhode Island W
DUQUESNE W
@ Dayton W
GEORGE WASHINGTON W
@Saint Joseph's L
RICHMOND W
A-10 Championship - Quarterfinals W
A-10 Championship - Semifinals W
A-10 Championship - Finals W

29-5 Outright A10 Champs
RPI 10-15
#2/3 Seed

Odds on this are slim, but this team can do this!
