Marshmallow Minded Fans

Postby Masterofreality » Sun Feb 10, 2008 2:32 pm

"Just when I want to believe in this team, they go ahead and play like *****.

This is a total collapse.-
"- Mr. Neutral

"I think Stan has more turnovers than points. This is ridiculous. Nice job X. Way to just blow a game"- Blue Blob

Posted on the second half thread. Way to just give up, guys.

Later:

"This is more like it.

Show some f***ing toughness!
"- Mr. Neutral after Xavier comes back.

As I've said on previous occasions. We want our players and coaches to be tough minded, be resilient, keep grinding and not give up. Is it too much to ask that the fans hang in there too? Hey, Moose, how about applying your last comment to yourself, my friend?

It's a darn good thing I trimmed my fingernails during the half. I didn't have any to bite at the end of the game.
It's still morning out here on the bay and my classmate went to church instead of coming over for the game. In the long run of things, he reinforced id religion while I sat here losing mine.

Still. it was a good win and helps with those coming ahead in the next couple weeks.

Valid point, MOR, but we can't all have a Zen-like, "oh well" approach to games. Sometimes we react to what we're seeing, which, for a lot of the 2nd half, was not that good.

This was a big game for X, and if they had lost at home to an SJU team whose best player was sitting for much of the game, that would not have been a "good" L for us in any way, shape or form.

X should have won this game, and did, but made it a lot harder than it had to, IMHO.

Those are the same emotions most people had during the game. The only difference is they're not on here putting it out for everyone to read.I was thinking the same things sitting in my seat at the Cintas Center. But they won the game and that's all that matters.

I agree MOR. People act like St. Joe's is not a good team they are gonna fight when they are behind just like we do. Basketball is a game of runs the key is we got the W.

I was not able to post after the St. Louis game but I bet you guys were freeaking out at the end of that game but hell what could you do about that? I guy hits 3 tough contested 3's in a row.LOL that ***** was crazy.

Great win XU keep up the tough play big week this week.

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda are the "Maybe Sisters" who never got lxxd, never accomplished anything and lived a miserable life.
Bottom line, Xavier won the damn game. Yeah, they Coulda lost; maybe they Shoulda lost but for a few good things and they Woulda lost had not BJ hit a three at the right time and Stanley calmly converted two FT. They won. They are 20-4 and 8-1 in the A10 with a two-game lead in the standings.
But for the half-full minded, they could also lose the next two and be right back in the pack. But don't forget. St. Joe has tough games ahead as does every team in contention for the A10 regular-season title and a high seed in the tournament. It's gonna be one heck of an end to the regular season.

IMO, the game thread posts are for fans not able to be at the game to talk and vent positively and negatively about the game we're all watching as it happens. I see nothing wrong with making comments right as plays are being made. If you're too distraught about people making honest comments while the game is going on, then don't read. Hindsight is always 20 20 after we win. Had we blown a 14 point lead....and at one point we were down 7.....a 21 point swing....that's horrible.
I think "relax" should apply to those that feel the need to call out other fans for being impassioned as the game is taking place.

"Nice job X. Way to just blow the game." - Blueblob

Uh, no. X did not blow the game. Vent if you want, but posting comments like this set you up to look stupid.

And, by the way. I thought the "game thread' was supposed to be a service to those who are not at the game to keep up with a score, not for editorial comments.

Whatever. I'll watch and save any commentary after all the votes are in.

If the negatives (and the Neutral) critiqued each team that we've beaten in a similar manner that they critique X, one would conclude that every team we've beaten sucks and our 20-4 record is only due to the fact that we've played crappy teams and have beaten no one of significance.
