Dayton has passed us as a program
In the RPI. After LOSING a game to Rhode Island, they moved up to #13 in the RPI, while after BEATING lowly LaSalle, we fell to #14. Not to mention losing to us brought LaSalle into the top 200. (Way to go LaSalle!) Richmond is about to break the top 100, while the Dukes are about to fall below 100.

RPI Forecast has them at season's end at 34. X in top 10.
It's time for a bourbon on the rocks!

Re: Dayton has passed us as a program
Dayton could theoretically win out, as the competitive teams left on their schedule are all home games. But they have five tough home games, including us. They will more than likely drop at least two of those. We have the reverse. Four of our five remaining road games are going to be tough. (Assuming we rock St. Louis on Thursday.) We could end up with about the same win-loss and, therefore, a close RPI. We need to beat them in Dayton and/or make a nice appearance in the A10 tournament to ensure, without a doubt, that we have the best portfolio come selection Sunday. As of late, we have more national respect, but they can pull that flimsy injury card if they finish the season strong (i.e. one loss).

UD is struggling, and have proved that they are really not deep.
Our RPI should fare better than theirs in the end, even giving similar records due to our better non-con sked.
I did some analysis on our SOS over time, and this LaSalle game was a low point in the season. We dropped because the value of a home win is less that the negative impact of playing a lousy LaSalle team. On balance, our SOS contribution of our RPI has upside remaining in our schedule. Forget these little moves up and down. Our sked is strong down the stretch ( we'll finish with a top 30 schedule overall), and we could win 8 or 9 of our last 10.
We're playing well, and will be in great shape come March.
UD has their best team in a decade, and it's a shame (for the A-10) that they have run into this injury luck. But give the strong position of the A-10 this year, they clearly still have a shot at earning a bid.

This is proof of how you can't put too much into the rpi.It is completely illogical to have UD ahead of X.

A quote for the ages.
dayton is an after tought. Even if they beat X at the dump, Xavier's biggest competition is themselves. If X can maintain a high standard like they have for most of this season everything will take care of themselves.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
