Coach's show on Monday
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Two questions:
1) What type of job would pull you away from Xavier, for a second time, and what are other important factors in that decision?
2) How competitive is Xavier in the new NIL marketplace?

Re: Coach's show on Monday
No softball questions after this four game skid where we look unprepared and uninspired.
1) Why has our on ball defense been so poor lately especially guarding dribble drives to the perimeter.
2) Explain the lack of development from the four and the five position especially the Euro players. Also, he proclaimed Lazar was the second best player during early season practice, what happened?
3) Can he discuss the situations with Cam Kraft and Reid Ducharme and if he expects them to play for X in the future and produce.
This recent losing streak has been some of the worst basketball I've seen effort wise in 30 years. This is not a question just an opinion. Losing the number of games we have at home is inexcusable not matter what talent level we have.

Skyhops I like your questions. Especially the dribble drives to the basket .I think the effort is lacking too. It should be very hard for anyone to come to the Cintas Center and beat us. Those are tough questions and hard to answer. It was obvious that Miller was disgusted with the effort. We are not a talented team and that explains a lot of the problem .He will get this turned around but maybe not this year

Re: Coach's show on Monday
I think Skyhops' questions 2 and 3 are very good questions, but I might add that with the international players, did he expect any of them to be ready this year, or was it just a hope they could contribute? Last night, listening to the game, I thought, where is Lazar not to earn a little time on the court?
I also would like to know about Reid Ducharme. Was it planned he would red-shirt, or does he have an injury?
We had over the limit number of players this season but could not find 0 players that could play Big East basketball. In fact, we played a walk rather than a scholarship player; what is up with that?
I am sure the answer from Sean might be the international guys didn't up until late, but that can't be an excuse for the whole season.

I didn't see your post before I posted my post, but it is strange that Sean could take a Steele club that won an NIT and get so far in the tournament, but when it is his first recruits, they don't have the talent to make the tournament. Did Sean just assume the talent instead of knowing what he had?Kevin Reilly wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 6:20 pmSkyhops I like your questions. Re: Coach's show on Monday
From the Euro side Lazar was the most talented followed by Gytis since was older and Ciani was added for depth, which is why Ciani is not really a D1 player currently. Lazar was slated to be at the four just go back and listening Broering and Paul talk about him. Obu scored 37 in a game last year but I’ve never seen a big with worst post moves and no left hand.
Jones and Kolek ate are lunch on drives to basket on all of our guards. If Claude is going to shoot like he has and not be aggressive he better learn to defend. We basically swung and missed on five recruits including Euros. I’ll give Abu a pass because I think he would have been fine with Free and Hunter.

Re: Coach's show on Monday
as a coach - when you go into an off-season thinking that your best 2 4's are going to be healthy, then come summertime one gets a heart condition and the other has the softest/weakest feet in the world, you can't just "go out and get some dudes to replace them". they aren't there. it ain't happening. we are using guys for 25+ minutes who were supposed to be 7-8 minute guys. that's the reality. if even ONE of Freemantle or Hunter was healthy this season we have 3-4 more wins and are probably squarely on the bubble. that's the truth. you might not like it, but that's as simple as it gets.

I agree regarding Hunter, however that is not true for Free. Free’s foot and progress were not even close to being ready and most knew that. We banked on Obu, Hunter, and Lazar. Free is not certain to come back next year. All Euros will probably be gone.

Re: Coach's show on Monday
You guys hit on all the salient points with your great questions so nothing to add. On a macro level I would like to hear from Sean on how he feels the team progressed or regressed and what are his thoughts on the future of this team considering the current talent. I believe he said on a number of occasions that we would be a much better team in Feb. than Dec. I don't think we saw that what happened? When & where is this show?
