I totally understand the financial aspect of it….I was there, I suffered through it, I was heavily involved in the financing of a different sport that ultimately got cut too…..I’ll also say that XU football really wasn’t very good either. Perhaps that had something to do with the financial aspects too? People like to watch winners, losers very rarely draw well. There certainly wasn’t the TV money back then that there is now. Programs had to rely on the gate to support the program. Or donors, and donors don’t usually support losing programs either. I did explain that all to the UC fan I was sitting with. They understood, but none of that is what I would call solid ground upon which to talk bad about anyone else’s program…especially one that is doing as well as UC’s is.

I’ll still contend that AH needs to accept the reality of UC football as it is TODAY. Small and slow my a$$. All you need to do is look at the numbers from the combine and from the UC pro day and you can see that the top UC athletes are every bit as good and talented as anywhere else. Do they play in the best league? No. Do they have the depth that some of the other programs do? No. But just because they are not the best of the best is no reason to say the things that AH consistently does about them. Especially to a UC person that XG2003 appears to be. They are still better than all but the top 15-20 programs in the country, and that’s a pretty good place to be.
I think I have spotted your problem with AH: First, reality is not one of his strong suits. Second, he doesn't need a reason to say things about you, uc, or anyone named muskieman. Sometimes they are funny but none based on reality but like the 3-year-old down the street, I just listen(read), laugh and bless his heart.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Kyz,

I was funning with you a bit, even though I still contend there was a lot of truth to what I said. I do agree: UC has been a top 15-25 programs over the last couple of years. They caught lightning in a bottle, kind of like Boise State did a dozen years ago, and overachieved with underrated kids. They will be solid again this year, probably a top 35-40 team, thanks in large part to the conference they play in. They were kind of like Wisconsin in cbb. However, making the CFB playoff was laughable. It is the only sport in college athletics where you can game the system. Play an awful schedule and win one good game a year should not warrant entry into the playoffs. Predictable result, as they got throttled, despite playing a team decimated with injuries.

I remember GW in 2006, where they went into the Tourney with one loss, but still was only an eight seed, and lost to Duke or NC in the SW 16. Based on the parallels, they should have been awarded entry to the FF, although they actually had about 8 quality wins that year. Too bad for them the B12 will be diluted when they enter the league, as the top two programs by far are bolting to the SEC. It will still be far superior to the AAC, though that ain't exactly a high bar.
