Re: UConn game thread 2/19
Scruggs with more turnovers than points and out scored and played by their transfer guard. What a mess, and we lost the game according to the used car salesman by losing the “war”. What a mess.

Re: UConn game thread 2/19
As expected another loss. May not win another game if Scruggs doesn’t play better-3pts & 4 TO’s. Kunkel outstanding should play more minutes. 3-4 from deep rest of the team 2-13. Freemantle 0-5. Hopefully they beat Georgetown but might be too late by then. Where was the effort in the first half. Unfortunately don’t see them winning any of the next 3. Sure hope they prove me wrong. Trending to the bubble or worst.

Re: UConn game thread 2/19
The game was lost for a couple reasons. First, Scruggs and his point guard play was as bad as its been since watching Xavier. If he is going to continue to play like this Odom needs to play instead. I still can't figure out while they are both in Scruggs always plays the point and Odom hangs out like a SG, which we know he is not. Second, Steele thinks Free and Hunter can play together which they can't. We gave up 11 points in a row I believe and game was over. Free is not a five and I don't even think that Hunter is a four, yet Coach Wright I mean Steele keeps running them out together. IU friends warned me about Hunter being careless with the ball and a terrible shooter and decision maker and they were correct. If Nunge is out put in Miles and if Free comes out put in Edwards at least for rebounding. Hunter can come in for a few minutes at four, but he and Free are not the most cerebral players. AH noted that Free played well, however he should never shoot five threes and 5/15 unacceptable.

Are you sure Edwards is a four? Out of high school, he was rated a Center.skyhops wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 9:44 amThe game was lost for a couple reasons. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Not a huge difference except on defense should be able to play both.

just like Sean, Chris, and Now Travis they only play a freshman at one positions they don't have to learn a new position in their first year. Come on you knew that.

Does anybody know if Ben Stanley is healthy enough to play? Just curious as to why you wouldn't give a 6'6" 225 muscular guy a few minutes to see if he could help on the boards - especially when you are getting crushed by the opposition.

Re: UConn game thread 2/19
Excellent question and the answer is yes he is. After listening to Steele's show tonight, someone in the crowd asked him why Stanley hasn't played since winning coveted Gold Jersey. I kid you not, his response was paraphrasing, "He has not amassed enough Xavier Way Points." I also suspect he forgot to wear a costume on their Halloween practice day. How does one win the coveted GJ if they don't practice The Xavier Way.?
Then, Steele said they were gassed during the St. John's game, and the same guy asked - summarizing, why he doesn't get guys like Edwards more PT so guys like Zac and Nunge aren't gassed. He struggled getting non-softball questions, and just said, "Yea, we have to figure that out to get him in more."
Also, I agree Hunter has a very limited skill set, primarily solid defense including his ability to switch, but he said defense and rebounding are the reasons he isn't playing. Again, I like Free in certain situations, and he wasn't a glaring negative against UConn as he normally is on D(though was horrible ag St. John's and Coach admitted that, but it didn't hurt his minutes) but has been the worst defender by far all year. Steele is oblivious to it.
Lastly, he said that shot selection has been good overall. I repeat he thinks shot selection has been good overall. I truly hope none of the recruits has access to 55KRC. On the other hand, they may like the chance to win $10 worth of Chuck E Cheese coins for winning knockout in one of the practices.

the reason given to Adam Baum was Ben while medically cleared has not gotten his athleticism back to the level before the injury.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 8:12 pmExcellent question and the answer is yes he is. His athleticism can’t be any worse than Freemantle and his inability to play defense. Steele is over his head.
