Re: Coaching Options
I was expecting a Skyhops "Travis for IU" banner flying over IU today
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

If they would take him I’m all for it, good suggestion. I’m sure most on hear would as well. Bring in Kelsey and all is well.

Always the guy not on the hot seat is better and your proof is he was terrific in the 25th rated conference

Not for long. What is with the loyalty to Steele. You can't possibly think he has improved this program and are moving in the right direction. I know you are a true fan, but it is okay to be objective. We are back to mediocrity and I don't like it.

Re: Coaching Options
you mistake me thinking you are off your rocker with your comments, to a love for Travis proves you don't read my posts. I would hire anyone proven at a high level over any coach that might be lesser. When Miller was here, I liked him but if a coach like Rick Barnes, Bill Self, Shocka Smart(Hair or no hair) or even Roy Williams would have been available and X could afford them I take them and kicked Miller to his "Cadillac" years earlier. For those that think Miller was the one, his recent employment proves that to be wrong. I dislike Coach K and Cal but they have proven they can be winners as much as it disgusts me. I want a coach to love and that is a guy that is a winner and loves X enough to ignore suitors from larger schools. Duke wasn't always the top dog.

Hair or no hair, that’s funny. I think Miller was the best coach, but Arizona kept offering more.

Re: Coaching Options
i understand Miller's pedigree before Steele became a head coach is way better but if you simply compare Sean and Travis the last 3 seasons, it's not even close.
Miller has DERAILED, for i'm sure a multitude of reasons, most of those probably surrounding all the illegal things going on in and around their program.
not sure how he keeps his job after all this stuff but apparently he will.
i'm not gonna defend Steele on everything but i'm also not going to cut bait just yet. coaches can improve the same way you hope players improve, i.e.: I hope Odom figures out how to shoot a 3 and maybe be a 30% 3 pt shooter. i hope Miles puts on 10-15 lbs and can help with our lack of big man problem. i hope Wilcher and Jones both just get better. i hope Kunkel shoots 10,000 3's this summer and becomes the sniper we all thought he would be. i hope Nate comes back healthy and we grab 1-2 impact transfers.
i know right now Steele is trying to do everything he possibly can to get this program back to where we'd like it to be.
i'm not happy with the results.
but i still believe Steele can be a good coach.

Re: Coaching Options
Would someone who believes that Steele can get better and move this program forward please identify some evidence probative of that position? It may provide some hope to those of us who believe he has been in over his head since day one. I think we are going to be stuck with him for at least one more season, so it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Coaching Options
Steele is underqualified, overmatched, and must go. Pitino or a return of S. Miller, if even a possibility (unrealistic, IMO) would nevertheless be unacceptable. A distinguishing trait of this program over the past several decades has been its class and integrity. Bringing in either of those two would irreparably tarnish that which has taken ages to build. Winning basketball games is nice. Doing so the right way is what this program is about.
