Re: Big East tourney thread
There is no way to defend Travis after tonight. As I’ve said before I like the guy, he probably deserved being hired but it just isn’t working. It won’t happen but he has to go.

Awful defense in second half..and in first half we let Golden and Nze get the ball so low they could not fail. There will be some unanticipated changes for next year I feel as this can't really continue

That was rough. Team collapses, awful coaching, best pure shooter will transfer, no size to build around and a couple freshmen who may be looking around. Never thought I’d see it at X, but time to restock. Steele will not lead the way back. Bummer, but there will be better days at some point

Xavier tradition with Travis Steele. Lose three straight against subpar competition two years in a row, including putrid teams to start the BE tourney. If any of our guys have aspirations to develop or play in the tourney, they better hit the transfer portal. He is clueless. Butler packs it in the 2nd half, and his best three point shooter can't see any time. Result? 10 points in 1st 10 minutes. Carter was 3-11, and along with Free got abused defensively, so Steele doesn't bring in Griffin or change defenses.
They finished under 500 in the league even though they didn't play three sure fire losses, two against Nova, and one against Conn. They actually blew a 19 point 2nd half lead to Butler. No, not the Zags or Baylor. No, not Texas or Wisconsin, but Butler. No, not Miss State or Wichita St, but Butler. He let the lead evaporate from 19 to 7, and didn't even call a timeout.
Dark clouds on Victory Pkwy will continue until we get a new coach from the AAU ranks.

Unfortunately,
Daddy in law is on the board, and Christopher came from Bowling Green, where making the CBI is a banner year. Hopefully, big pocket donors force his hand. X bball is too valuable to the university. X used to be a Top 20 Forbes team. It's probably hovering in the 60s now. Hopeful for Tandy. Texas Tech or Illinois would be a good landing spot for him.

they didn't have a 19 point second-half lead but a but losing a 14 point lead was bad enough. Odom played a good game but fouling an 80% FT shooter with 3.7 was just a brain fart.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:28 pmXavier tradition with Travis Steele. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Simply put, inexcusable.
Carter taking two shots in the final 2 minutes of regulation is as inexplicable as can be imagined.

What's worse, is it was a play called from the bench. Great call, wrong person. It's not like the sample size wasn't big enough to know that Carter air balls half of his labs. Please no NIT. 1,000,000 paper cuts this year is enough.ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:35 pmSimply put, inexcusable.

Butler hit two three and was up six when a Carter three after a Carter two brought us back to 1 point down?ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:35 pmSimply put, inexcusable.

Re: Big East tourney thread
Quote from Byron in post game show, "Carter took 3-4 bad shots, and X wouldn't have gone in overtime otherwise.". Paraphrased. Harsh, and Carter didn't lose the game for X. Steele did. Awful coach. I have a feeling the next time Tandy eats in a Chinese restaurant, the piece of paper will simply say Karma.
