Re: Nova game thread
We don't have the athletes to compete in the Big East for the championship....Period! Villanova is so much better …..\

Re: Nova game thread
Home rims and X is shooting less than 35% from the field
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Still Joe Sunderman just referenced Q’s shot as the defining moment, with X chasing ever since.

Never lead and never tied. Home field loss. Talent on Nova when they shoot the three poorly and still beat X at the X game of inside scoring. Gillespie 2-11 scoring only 4 today and most would have thought X would win.

Re: Nova game thread
It's mind boggling why he got so many minutes instead of someone like Moore. I feel bad for him, but he is usually a glaring net negative, yet Steele kept him in for extended minutes. Some of his decisions make my head hurt. Same thing happened when X decided to press, so he takes Tandy out, and decided to pressure Nova with three bigs, under ten, and four to go. It's like kicking an onside kick and putting lineman in to recover the ball.ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 4:01 pm42-35, X with momentum, and Goodin tosses up a 3 ... nothing else need be said.

Re: Nova game thread
Yet Nova has 5 losses in league play, including getting run out of the gym by the least athletic team team in the league in Butler, and it ain't even close. Tony Bennett and others have shown that exhibiting high level IQ can over come a lack of uber athletes, which X has doesn't lack.

Also add "Carter with the shot." He is a great kid and tries his damn best, but has had a big enough sample to show he doesn't have the goods to compete at a high level in the BE. He was one for four, missing three shots at the rim. He caught one pass in the post with Gillespie guarding him, and couldn't manage to shoot over him, and passed it out. Steele was very slow in recognizing Goodin was killing the team, and only an injury and public pressure forced him to make the change, and relegate him to the bench. One more is warranted.ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 4:34 pmUnderstood, a team loss.muskieman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 4:12 pmit isn't all Goodin. He was booed for it as well. The crowds at Cintas have become quite inpatient this year, and rightfully so.ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 2:59 pmSo tough to become invested in the Team when Naji jacks up a long early in the shot clock 3.

hey if we want to call out people for missing shots, how was Freemantle's line today or because he is a freshman and other things he is exemptAnti-Homer wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 8:19 pmAlso add "Carter with the shot." Free played as poorly as Carter today.. Carter: 28 min/6.8 pts/ 39% fg,/ 74% ft? 25% 3 pt. Freemantle : 18/7/49%/79%/43%. Carter is a better defender, but offense, especially today, was a much greater need. The play with Carter not scoring on the block with a 6'3" guard defending him tells you all you need to know. Also, Carter was abused by Samuels early in the game, when he yielded six early points. That and his two missed bunnies helped dig a hole X could not climb out of. I think both should play, but the benefactor of more minutes should be Kyky with a starting lineup of: Kyky, Scruggs, Marshall, Free/Carter, Jones.
