Xavier might beat Seton Hall??? the stats say so
Seton Hall actually scores less points per game per stats than Xavier. SH's 3 point shooting stat is almost as bad as Xavier's. The main thing in Seton Hall's favor is they are playing at home and that SH has figured out how to win the close games, whereas X has figured out how to lose/especially a close game. Based on the fact that SH has not lost a game within the BE ,.....you would think they should beat X easily. If X would just play "smart and good basketball" , they can win over SH. The problem is that the X has not shown they can play smart basketball and thus they lose .

Seton Hall favored to win by 9.5 points...not surprised considering they are the best in the BE.

Great start....but falling back into bad,not smart basketball. X was up 30 to 6. Then Xavier started turning the ball over and "fouling" unnecessarily....letting SH back in the game at 31-13. Play smart....guys.

24 point lead down to 15....SH has cut off 9 points...basically due to X helping them to the free throw line by fouling and making turnovers. SH is beatable but one cannot help them win. X needs to score and not give up easy points to SH. A 40 minute game and still a long way to go.....

Great half for X, particularly on the defensive end. FT shooting and T.O.s continue to be an issue. You can see the pressure is disrupting X's offense. Carter almost turned it over on two other possessions. Not sure why they didn't have Goodin in there. He had 2 or 3 bad T.O.s, but playing solid offensively otherwise, and is X's best and most confident ball handler. They need to punish SH with their pressure by attacking on the other end, because it's coming.

X has no idea how to attack the press. They have not gotten one basket off of the press, because they keep passing backwards, and not over the top. SH loses nothing but trying to create turnovers.

Unbelievable win.
Tyrique was the MVP with the best game of his career. Marshall and Tandy also played great. Defense and rebounding was the difference. They outrebounded a team with 4 guys 6'10" and taller by 30! However, Marshall's D on Powell, and Tyrique's help D principally, and others were off the charts.
There is a reason why X was a top 3 preseason league selection, in a team with 7 +/- in the top 50 in NET rankings. Now, X is on the right side of the bubble. TS has taken a lot of heat, but had X prepared to play the best and hottest team in the league coming off of a demoralizing loss which could have ended the season. Majo r props to him.
