Detroit Titans

Postby Michigan Musketeer » Wed Dec 19, 2018 9:24 pm

New coach Mike Davis former Indiana & Texas Southern coach who we faced last year in the first round. Detroit is not very good 3& 5 but they do shoot a lot of threes. One player with same name as the coach had 10 in one game Loyola (Md). scored 42Pts. Detroit was 17-28 for the game but 11-12 in the second half. This guy can coach-saw his Texas Southern team upset Sparty in Lansing a couple years ago. We had better guard the 3 Pt line better than we have been or it could be a long night and turn into more than a warm up game for the Big East.

If only some guys named DeBuschere, Haywood, Long, Tyler, Cureton, Phillps, Jackson were on the roster. Coach Davis stepped into the worst of all scenarios but few years of talent influx will bring the Titans back.

We have the same hopes for Coach Steele and the Muskies. He too came in under the worst possible scenario.

Good memories of UD under Dick Vitale at Schmidt field house n early 70's. Spencer Haywood was the big draw.

Dickie V was not coaching when Spencer Haywood played for the Titans; Long & Tyler were Coach Vitale's stars in mid 70s.
