I attended
Hard to draw any significant conclusions from a 10 minute intrasquad scrimmage
Impressed -
1). Scruggs won the 3 point shooting contest and knocked down a 3 in the scrimmage. He will definitely be much more productive this year
2) James played the best of the 2 freshman. Made a couple of 3's.
3) Basketball Jones is a lean mean fighting machine. Was a force inside.
4) Hankinss was the best of the grad transfers. Jones schooled him early but this kid just plays with relentless energy. In some aspects a taller version of JP
Disappointed -
1) Welege. Is rail thin and seemed a step slow. Did make a long 3 at the end of the scrimmage. Hopefully Q will be able to get him dishes off the drive
2) Castlin The walk-on Schrand drew a charge on him. Still feel he will bring a Macolm Bernard-like presence to this team which will be nice

Lot of games to be played but the keys will be Q being healthy and the main guys will be Q, Scruggs, Hankins, Jones and Naji
And Castlin, Welege and James as key reserves. Kennedy and Hardin looking to be not ready for prime time players.

The way the post is written, it is clear that the author is disappointed with Welage and Castlin. Scruggs, James, Jones, and Hankins all fall under the "impressed" rubric. I generally agree with this assessment although I hold out some hope for Castlin. And if we get anything from Harden or Kennedy, which I hope will be the case, even better.

most people in the know think Castlin will be a starter.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Unfortunately,

That's more of an indictment on Welage's inability to acclimate to this level, as much as anything else. I have no doubt Castlin will be a solid player, but their offense is going to be hurting without a stellar outside shooter, and hinder the ability for the great slashers they have in Goodin, Scruggs, and Marshall. D James may seize upon the opportunity, considering his ability to knock down the 3.
