Why? Maybe he just wants to make sure he is not one of the “old regime’s” guys. This often happens with coaching changes. Not wanting to get lost in the shuffle is reasonable.

Agree with Jesse, 100%. This is a two way street and a huge decision for both sides. Sounds like an intelligent young man wanting to make sure of the landscape he is about to encounter.

I just got to thinking about how it would be if someone had accepted a job offer from a company and then in the meantime the company was bought out (changed hands) and now you did not know the people in charge and now you would not know how that would affect you. Maybe the new company would not have the same idea of what your job would entail. Not exactly the same thing but close. He is looking at a possible 4 year commitment so I do not blame him for getting some clarity to what expected of him so he could feel comfortable in his role. Just saying. Go Xavier!

Shadow - XU is not like GOOGLE. If he had an offer from Duke or Kentucky he would not consider leaving. Getting an underling sent to tell him everything was going to be the same. Steele (to his credit did go to him) and talked about his role on the team. Now, he is still considering XU as his first choice so maybe this much ado about nothing. We will see. Go Xavier!
