David West

Is he Xavier's next assistant coach?... He met up with Steele a week ago, and Shannon reported that the third assistant will be named next month (which is just about the time that the NBA playoffs end).

I have no idea but I think it would be great if he was.

After all the $ he has made in NBA can’t believe he would want to be an assistant coach in college. He has no real ties in Cincinnati. Even though he has an X tattoo not sure he has been a financial supporter of X. Obviously it seems he would be a great addition. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Patrick Ewing was a far bigger star and he went from player to NBA assistant to college head coach.
If you want to get in to coaching you have to start somewhere.

Following West on Twitter it's clear that, at heart, he's a teacher... He has said that Xavier played a major role in his development as a person.

There's a photo from a clandestine meeting between West and Steele.

In addition, there's this tweet from Shannon Russell:

"...We'll likely see more finality with titles/third assistant coach next month, but I'll share if anything develops sooner."

Shannon seems to know what's up in this matter. Someone should buy her a few drinks and get her to spill the beans.

I like the way you write Pierre. "Spill the beans." Reminds me of the word choices of the great Christopher Moore. Yeah I think it would be cool if David West returned to X. I've read some of his stuff, a fine mind, he would be good for our guys.

The fact that he has plenty of money is a good reason why he might make this move. Loves kids and is a good teacher. I think he is in a good position to take this. I believe he has helped X financially. He made a point of going to X @ Butler games when with the Pacers. Don’t forget he left $11 mil on the table in Indy to go where he could get a ring. I believe he has played for the minimum every year since leaving the Pacers. If he needed the money I doubt he would do that.
