Christopher said the average salary for Big East coaches is $2 million and Mack was making more than that. XU had offered Mack even more to stay.

Not impressed so far from this presser.. Hoping to be proven wrong but detect no real sense of urgency or foresight...... Again, maybe this is his poker face and we will be pleasantly surprised with both results and timeline.

Love these trolls who come on a Xavier board. Joined 2 weeks ago but i will answer anyway. Completely agree that it will be a "stepping stone" job compared to $4 million plus additional incentives at Louisville. In this case, his dream job. He had big offers at OSU, IND, and GT in the last 24 months. I always heard Louisville and ND were his dream jobs so he got what he want.

No matter who considers it a stepping stone, X still is way more relevant as a basketball program than most. No FF but has had more success in terms of S-16, E-8s since 2004 then almost every team except Kansas, MSU, , Nova, and Duke. Think about it if you were a UC fan. 1 S-16 in last 15 years. Their coach used the program last year and "accepted" UNLV job only to get another $500K or so from UC. Thats a great gig. No expectations and still get a raise. Then there's Louisville. When you have enough money to pay hookers, apartments for players to entertain girls, $100K to at least one player, and a history of cheating dating back to Crum, then there is more money in the pot for any coach. If the next "stepping stone" comes in and has as much success as the last three stepping stone coaches (all of which went to the Elite 8), then we will have to live with that shame.
