Evan Boudreaux Dartmouth transfer

With 10 regulars, I can't believe they'd add more other than the walk ons. Are 13 total scholarships are available? Current roster shows 10 with 2 walk ons, but I think there are actually 3 walk ons based on what I've seen in games.

X is currently short 2 players that should be on scholarship and on the team. One didn’t make it into,school and one left before the season started. Otherwise they would have 12 players currently on scholarship.

Watched some video of him.
Good hands. Moves well with the ball. Likes to get to the rim. Has a shooter's touch. Knows where to be without the ball. Has a good 3 ball. Dribbles well. Isn't much of a leaper but can get there easy enough.

Probably has a very high basketball IQ. Interviews like a seasoned coach.

Needs to hit the weight room hard. Can't tell anything about his D. But knows it's importance. Needs to get a quicker release!!!!!. Maybe work on speed too.

Kind of like a Gates but maybe more comfortable driving to the rim.

I do realize walk ons aren’t on scholarship ( unless big brother stain gives you his ) . I just don’t ever remember having 12-13 regulars. I didn’t know how many scholarships a team had. I didn’t think about transfers sitting out and red shirts. Guess that usually keeps the numbers manageable.

A coach NEVER fills all 13 ships with 3-4 star kids, as they expect to play immediately if not sooner. That leads to transfers as a realistic rotation is 7-9 kids. Makinde London is a perfect example. A 4 star kid that saw the big picture i.e. the depth chart, and knew his minutes were going to be few and far between.

As far as recruiting, the staff is still looking to pick up a transfer or another high school kid. We do have 3 shooters coming in with Kennedy, Dontarius, and Evan, who was a fantastic pickup. We were never going to find a center (who can play the 4) this good, either as a high schooler or a transfer. He not only fills the enormously gaping hole as a backup 5, he's a very good shooter, that will see open looks he never dreamed of when he was ALWAYS the focal point at Dartmouth for every team they played. But we will definitely be in an adjustment period losing two of the best players ever to come through here, along with two contributing centers.

Good post. X will be very hard pressed to be as good of a team next year, but who would have guessed it would be the 17', and not the 16' Team to reach the E-8. I think X will have a very formidable and athletic frontcourt with Gates, Marshall, and Jones. Boudreaux will give them a very solid backup 4. Goodin will still be a good floor general, but he won't stretch the D due to his shooting. X desperately needs a sharpshooting 2, via a grad transfer, or surprise freshman. I think it's too soon to think Harden fills that role. The program has reached the stage where they reload, not rebuild.

My 2 cents

1) Enjoy the season currently being played! All seasons are special but this season has the chance to be more special than any before it! Enjoy watching two seniors who will combine for well over $3,000 career points. Enjoy the fact that we have a senior like Tre! It's rare to have such a great player for four years these days. Enjoy seeing Sean be a true leader and play his heart out when a sophomore takes his starting role. Enjoy seeing Kaiser live up to his potential. Enjoy the freshman growing into their game.

2) I assume the starting line up next year will be Gooden, Scruggs, Marshall, Gates and Jones. That means three starters will be returning. Call me crazy but I think all three will be better next year than this year. Marshall is already showing how great of a player he will be. Is he going to be as good next year as Tre as a senior, probably not, but we can hope. While I like JP, I'm think that Scruggs as a sophomore might be better than JP as a senior. Players generally make big steps forward as sophomores and Scruggs is too talented not to make the step up. Overall I like our starting lineup next year.

3) The bench is what has me concerned. The signing appears to be huge for helping the depth. Evan should be able to replace Kanter as our second 4 with the ability to shoot threes. Even better is that we have a starting power forward for 2019-2020 I think Harden becomes a legit back up next year. The freshman class seems to have some guys that will need to devolop a little bit. So depth overall might be an issue year. I hope Mack is really hitting the grad Transfer Route next year. Would love to get a Gaston type player to provide depth and insurance in case Walter isn't ready. If you could combine that with a solid 2 guard, like a Bernard, I really like our chances next year as well. Good luck to Mack and the rest of the staff on the recruiting trail.
