Goodin
He may be a gamer, hard worker, freshman , etc. but he is a terrible shooter, 31% from the field, 28% from 3 and 53% from the line. Not many guards shoot that poorly especially from the line. Obviously he is our only pg. just wish he could make a few buckets. The loss of Ed was devastating.

Re: Goodin
Goodin is a great athlete with a below average skill set for basketball. I related in a previous post a Xavier inside said Goodin is a 9 on a scale of 1-10 as far as his athletic ability, but a 2 as far as his basketball skills. That does not equal a Big East point guard. It does not add up to a Big East starter unless you are DePaul. I like Goodin's hustle and effort, but he is very unpolished offensively. I see him as an 8th or 9th man when we get a full roster next year. But for the rest of the year he's all we have at the point.hoosiermuskie wrote:He may be a gamer, hard worker, freshman , etc. but he is a terrible shooter, 31% from the field, 28% from 3 and 53% from the line. Re: Goodin
Tu Holloway averaged 5.5 points per game his freshman year, shooting 35% from the field. His assist/turnover ratio was 2.2/1.9. He struggled his freshman year.
And I bet he would have struggled even more if BJ Raymond, D. Brown, and CJ Anderson all got hurt and the team asked Tu to score more instead of just running the offense.
Above from the other board. Not throwing the towel in on Q Just yet.

Re: Goodin
For God's sake...give the kid a break. He thought he would be second or third for the call. SURPRISE! He's a freshman with talents that have shown themselves in games...But to be a starting point guard in arguably one of the best leagues in the NCAA this past or two, gettig your shot so soon is a daunting task for an 18 year old. Give him time and let him adjust. He'll make you smile.

He's going to be very good player over his career. Count on it.

Re: Goodin
Not sure which subgroup of Americans is more insane, the wacked out far left Millennials who are rioting just about every other day because a candidate they opposed had the audacity to win or that group of X fans that cannot comprehend why we are suddenly struggling on the court. Q will be fine. He has been thrust into minutes that neither he nor the coaching staff ever dreamed he'd have to play. He must run the team with zero back-up as he is the only true guard left on scholarship. Q is a true Freshman - I repeat, A TRUE FRESHMAN. Q did not have the luxury of playing in a big-state 5 star high school league so a steep learning curve. I will not ramble on here as long as my last post but, in the immortal words of Aaron Rodgers - r-e-l-a-x. Not much any of us can do but hope these last two games have allowed Tre to mend properly enough to be back now around 95% or so next game. If so, he adds so freaking much that will help every other member of our team slide back a bit into more comfortable roles. I am proud of the way Quentin Goodin has handled this new responsibility, pressure, fatigue and 'mental' crash course.
On to Seton Hall. Either relish this unique season of challenges or quit watching. There's golf & tennis to be played you know.....

Re: Goodin
Digit, Tu shot better than Q in all aspects, especially at the line. As a freshman he shot 78% from the line. Do you remember Tu was $ at the line? I cringe when Q goes to the line. For Q to be a major contributor this year and in the future he will need to be able to score. You can't be a top Big East pg and shoot with these percentages. The loss of Ed has led to the demise of this years team.olsingledigit wrote:Tu Holloway averaged 5.5 points per game his freshman year, shooting 35% from the field. Re: Goodin
I am VERY PROUD of this team, every one of them. And the coaching staff as well.
There's a name for what they are going through. An old word. From the old Greek writers. You could look it up.
In your Aristotle.

Re: Goodin
Way too early to judge Goodin. I wish he was a Sumner like Freshman but he is not. Sumner was pretty special. However, I recall wondering about Michael Davenport, BJ Raymond, Jamal Walker, Sherwin Anderson, and Dee Dave as Freshmen. They all struggled more than succeeded as Freshmen and improved each year. By seniors, they were major contributors. Another poster commented about the challenges without Sumner and Bluitt. I would agree with that.. All the aforementioned players did not have so much on them their Freshmen years Time will tell on Goodin. My hope is he will be better next year for the time he puts in now. He certainly seems to be a good defender. He locked downSeton Halls short in second half in Cintas. This year is a lost year. Before Sumner went down, this team was 0-5 vs top 25. I think its on the coaching staff to coach them up a bit. Losing is one thing but getting blown out is another-especially three straight games. Offense has been a struggle all year (with or without Sumner) but D has been a huge disappointment all year.
