Agreed a lot of close losses, but this year's team has not shown the team chemistry nor the ability to score consistently or play consistently. They are at this point of the season a 26 to 40 top ranked team. Until they start beating great teams that is all they are.

Hey Guys,

Good to be back on the site. A few observations about last night's game.

1. I didn't really have a problem with the 1-3-1. It forced several long three point attempts and a two turnovers. The defense itself was effective, the rebounding was not.
2. Not sure you can blame C Mack's lack of coaching in last night's game. They came back from an 8 point second half deficit which was good. If none of the big guys he puts in the game rebound, that isn't his fault. It may be more of a recruiting issue.
3.Seth Greenberg and the play by play announcer (not Len Elmore) were very biased toward Mick. UC shot a terrible field goal percentage. They were wining because they were rebounding better but that was not about scheme or strategy.
4.My biggest concern about this season and in the future is the lack of development of the players over the course of the season. Kaiser Gates looks lost out there right know, I understand Sean is ground bound, but he can focus on being a more intelligent rebounder. I think Jones deserves more minutes, but he certainly needs to develop some type of post move.
5. I don't think it's necessarily a chemistry issue, I think the ceiling is just not as high for this team as we thought. If they can get out in transition more and rebound better the game will be more fun for them. No college kid wants to play half court all the time, particularly when your point guard's got a bum shoulder to shoot three's and you can't feed the post all the time.

With that being said.... Sweet 16 is still a possibility. They are more than a NIT Team!

The problem with the 1-3-1 isn't really the defense, you just can't rebound out of it very well most of the time because you are way to spread out to box out and keep very good rebounding teams off the glass. Hence all the fouls, etc.. Uc shot 50% from the field. There issue was from the foul line both in the first and second halves.
