Re: Myles time at X appears to be over
To be fair, I don't think the senior year was taken away from him but he made mistakes to put him in this situationkyzrex wrote:I'm sorry to see this ending to his Xavier athletic career. He was IMO a very valuable and important part of the team's success over the last three years, and I believe that he would have been the same for this year's team too if given the chance. However, if it was a situation where his heart was no longer in it and he no longer was willing to make the sacrifices that he would be called to make, then he probably made the right decision. Trust me, it's very very difficult to look forward to your senior year, have a large portion of it taken from you, and then find the inner motivation 1/2 the way through to put the effort into it you once did and is necessary to be successful. I wish him the best of luck with his future and will look back fondly on his first three years here.

what would've been your decision as to how to handle this "situation"? Myles should never have been let back on the team?skyhops wrote:Situation handled poorly all around. Not a good year for Chris.
love to hear your "expert MMQB" opinion on this one.

First let me say thank you to Myles Davis for all your effort on the court the last few years. I am sorry that it ended this way. Mistakes were obviously made but no of us have the full story. i trust that the coach and administration made the right choices and in the end the is the best for both the team and for Myles.
I hope Myles gets to play professionally, but if not I am very happy he earned his degree. I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors!

Think about it. Ed did not start or play in the first 4 minutes of the Creighton game due to his shoulder. Goodin started. What kind of blow was that to Myles ego?

Re: Myles time at X appears to be over
Haven't posted in a while, but I have been lurking through musketeermadness.com year after year. I play tennis with a XU professor every Monday night and have become good friends with this Prof over the past 3 years. Apparently, MD got into some trouble again with the same girl and was asked to leave. MD has had a history of problems off the court the last 3 years, but we're just now hearing about it now because his activity became criminal.
What's a mystery (I discussed this tonight with the Prof) is that MD is a heck of a leader on the court, but off the court, he's had many issues to the point, CM had no choice but to show him the door. Such a shame. I understand that MD is still just a kid, but what a way to end your college basketball career albeit with degree in hand.
The tweet MD sent out "I Hate being Lied too" was intended to the girl, not CM. But who knows, water under the bridge.
As an XU alum, I vow every year to my wife that "this is the last XU game I'm watching this year" (I've been saying this for the 12 years we've been married) and every game, I turn on, then turn off...then immediately check my ESPN app on my phone 10 min later...sometimes it's heart ache, and other times is relief. The last two seasons has been filled with more heart ache for me (the Wisconsin game from last year's sudden exit from the NCAA's) and the three straight losses to VU, BU and CU. Yet, I still look for a sliver of hope with each game and question myself "So who is Jesus rooting for when two Jesuit schools are playing each other?" Like by some miracle, Jesus has a hand and influences the outcome of each XU game.
At 49 years old, I still wane for the day we make it a final 4, hopefully in my lifetime. Regardless, most of the XU teams I have watched the last 30 years have surprised me, and I'm hoping this year's team is no different sans MD.

"More heart ache?" They've both been top 25 teams!!! Dude, relax and enjoy the games.exyou95 wrote:The last two seasons has been filled with more heart ache for me (the Wisconsin game from last year's sudden exit from the NCAA's) and the three straight losses to VU, BU and CU. Re: Myles time at X appears to be over
Exyou95, well said and I feel the same way. Just because we feel this team has underachieved the past two years with their talent doesn't mean we are not good fans. I hear Myles is a nice kid and good leader, but he kept getting in trouble and becoming a distraction. This was his own fault. Obi Harris wants to hand out participation ribbons.
