Shout out to CMack
Nebraska just took down MD at Md with a 14-0 run at the end and the announcer said to Coach Miles that it seemed to confuse Md when they went to the 1-3-1 zone. And he said they just installed that and he had to give a shout-out to coach Mack at Xavier for helping him install the defense.

Cool...imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.....I heard that somewhere along the line.
The 1-3-1 was used effectively in the GT game
The next 4 games - SJU, Nova, BU and Creighton - are against very good to great 3 point shooting teams.
Would not think X would employ the 1-3-1 much in those games.

Re: Shout out to CMack
The 1-3-1 is a great change of pace. But it does require a lot of work and diligence to be effective. It requires defenders to anticipate and close out quickly. If you don't, it leaves wide open 3 pointers and shots from the foul line. At times we have done a great job with it, and at times we haven't.
