St. John's U a longtime extremely successful program, totally unable to adjust to the changing landscape of High School and College ball. The program has become almost invisible. DePaul obviously suffers from the same inability to adjust to the way players are recruited away from their High School and their home town to play at "Prep" schools. If they can't recruit some decent players from Chicagoland they will become the Fordham of the Big East.
I think they already are the Fordham of the BE 2.0 based on their record the past 3 seasons
I hope they become relevant and competitive again but it is going to take more than just a new place to play to turn it around.

Not to kick a horse when it's down but - - - anyone watch the utter TRAIN WRECK that is DePaul B-ball last eve versus Wyoming..?
Good grief Charlie Brown. Not even competitive in the 2nd half. Sadness and almost approaching the level of a Fordham. Oh well, at least gives the other 9 BE teams a well needed bye during the rigors of conference play. But alas, a long term problem with no silver lining on the horizon...

Another miserable shooting performance for the Blue Demons this evening. A woeful 18-57 (31.6%), with the three point stat line at 4-23 (17.4%). The lousy shooting also resulted in taking a pasting on the Boards, being outrebounded 44-29.

Dropped the game to Missouri State 69-58. This was a rematch of a 11/23 DePaul home game, which the Blue Demons prevailed 68-66. The Blue Demons trailed most of that game, charging back at the end. After that game, I told my wife that narrow win was illusory.

DePaul only has two BE starting players on the court, Eli Cain and Billy Garrett, Jr. They have a few other BE role players, however, these fellows are forced to play far-too many minutes and are exposed.

Pegging DePaul at 2-16 this BE season. Hardly the way to generate buzz for the new arena. In response to rickf, there is little optimism the new home will do much. Yet, the "programs" status at the Allstate Arena is so dreary, the change cannot hurt.
