And everyone needs to remember that 60-10 number and understand that NOBODY is going to go undefeated in the conference. A few loses are to be expected and people shouldn't lose faith when they happen. 12-4 or 11-5 might well win the league or at least put you in 2nd. A .500 winning % combined with a win or two in the conference tourney will probably put a team into the NCAA tourney.

While I agree losses are to be expected, I am still not convinced that four losses will win the conference. At this point I think Nova might go with two or fewer losses. Even though they have had some close games, all teams to, but they seem to be good closers. Add to that that Josh Hart is playing lights out and appears to be the best player in the conference and maybe the country.

S.C. was missing their best player (not sure if due to injury or suspension), but the B.E. is still top heavy good. The top 4 can end up in the top 15 by year's end. Unfortunately, GTown is joining traditional anchors Depaul & St. Johns, who may prevent the BE from remaining a top 4 conference. Ed Cooley seemingly is doing a great job, considering he lost his two best players by far to the NBA, and probably 40% or so of Providence's scoring.oreobob wrote:Man, the Big East I going to be tough.
However, I have no idea whom they've played, so 8-2 could be against teams OSU plays in their non conference schedule.

Nova is far and away the class of the league...again. I thought preseason we had a chance to dethrone them......not anymore. Not even close.

And I don't think this a knock on X but Nova is miles ahead of us. I can see the Baylor loss but the way we lost sucked. Now, the Colorado game is a different story. Good teams find ways to win not ways to lose. But this is December so we can only hope things are looking up in March.bleedXblue wrote:Nova is far and away the class of the league...again. Well, I don't think Nova will lose 4 games either, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it DID happen. But with the parody among the next 3-4 teams it still wouldn't surprise me to see the 2nd place team with 4-5 loses against BE teams.olsingledigit wrote:While I agree losses are to be expected, I am still not convinced that four losses will win the conference. Re: the Hall beats S. Car
Hey, I am frustrated with the play so far as well but not willing to say we are going to be a middle of the pack team just yet. Two weeks ago we were bemoaning the play of our inside game and now Gaston is starting to play well and O'Mara and Jones are very good depth. Nova has arguably the best player in the country but I am not sold on their inside game and Brunson didn't look great against Notre Dame. Sumner needs to step up and make better decisions with the ball. I don't think he is going to be an outstanding shooter in the near future so teams will continue to sag off on him but he is still a rare 6'6" PG who can see over the defense. He will get better. If and when Myles gets back, it will give Mack more flexibility to spell Sumner and Macura. As I have mentioned on this site before, both Macura and Sumner are playing too many minutes. All the newcomers will continue to improve and with the improvement will come a better and deep team.
I think it is a great time to be a Xavier fan and a member of the Big East. Next week, we could have five teams in the top 25. Our friends in Clifton continue to be green with envy and would switch places with us in a minute.
The Big East Season will be a war night in and night out and probably a more competitive conference than last year.

Don't sleep on the Blue Jays. They have looked better than us and maybe I'm dreaming but I think they win at home vs Nova.
