Re: Baylor Game thread 12/03/2016
As a college basketball coach, I don't think Mack got out coached (although I hate how "blah" their 1-3-1 can be at times). When you turn the ball over 17 times and missed 12 free throws, that's on the players. Gates looked like a deer in headlights out there and X in general was bothered by Baylors length. Our bigs work hard but are not very offensively skilled and it shows, we are very talented but that's the biggest difference between last years team and this years. The team will learn from this and come back stronger!

Let's put this behind us, beat Colorado, and come home to beat Utah, Wake and Eastern Wadhington. If we can enter the Big East at 11-1, it will be an extremely successful non-con schedule. Then beat UC to make it 12-1 non-con.

Coach Mack has had issues with in game adjustments in the past. While he can't make baskets for his team, he can run plays to possibly get an easy basket when the team is cold, make adjustments on the defensive end to stall runs by the other team, or substitute. I'm not saying X would win this game if that happens. Just saying it may have kept the game close and given X chance to win.

Can't overreact too much to this loss. The FT shooting and lack of an inside presence are concerning.
Nonetheless, JP unlikely to have too many performances as he did today. As mumuskie87 noted, the type of game a return of Myles partially addresses. Still early season and playing an opponent like Baylor provides an excellent incentive to work harder and for the Coaching staff and team to identify strengths, weaknesses and benchmarks.

Did the announcers ever say that Treyvon was in foul trouble? You would think that would have been a big deal. Those guys were horrible.

I hate to say this but we are going to struggle against teams that have long atheltic bigs. Offensively our big guys simply do not finish well enough to be offensive threats. This will cause major problems against top tier teams.

and shooting 4-20 after shooting 14-38 in the first half lose you more games than you win. T Jones with 5 O boards in the first half I think was a bright spot in this game.xumuskies89 wrote:As a college basketball coach, I don't think Mack got out coached (although I hate how "blah" their 1-3-1 can be at times). I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

That's a load of crap. Since when does the coach shoot the ball, rebound or guard a man.X4LIFE wrote:Hate to say this because I love Coach Mack. But, in most of X losses it seems it is due to being out coached in the second half. Disappointing.
The shots that didn't go in and stupid turnovers decided this game
