X squeaked out a victory against a 500 team in the Patriot League, and had 18 t.o.s to boot, with an experienced back court. Basically, the same story as the scrimmage: TB & Sumner carried the team on their backs, and JP was sproadically good, though his shot selection left a lot to be desired. Good early play by O'Mara, which dissipated quickly. Gaston looked like the 9th player on the bench again, and the frosh looked like frosh. It's obviously very early, but not sure how much the previous 3 mentioned are going to help this year.

Kempton is a good player, but he should not make our bigs look like junior high guys. TB outrebounded O'Mara, Gaston, and Jones cumulatively. Ouch! CM has always been an offensive coach, preferring to outscore the other team (a la Skip) then stop the opponent from scoring, and it worked very well in the regular season last year. Not so much in the post.

Gates and Myles (should he ever earn his way back onto the team) will certainly help, but shouldn't have been needed against Lehigh. I was in favor of JP being suspended for 2 games for his boorish public behavior giving X a black eye, but knew that wouldn't happen when Myles lost his mind. As a fan, I'm glad he played. As an alum, dissapointed his behavior incurred no substantive consequences.

Let's hope Gates is ready by next week as suspected (Hops, need some inside info here). He's too tall for most 3's, and too quick for most 4's. I think he is poised to have a very good year.
Anti starting out the season as he ended last season with little knowledge of our opponents.

Sooooooo,

What some prognosticate about Lehigh this year erases their 17-15 record in the perennial power house Patriot league last year? I root for teams
like Lehigh, and hope they'll be good, for the sake of our S.O.S. Also, If I recall correctly, G-Town was touted as being one of the top teams pre-season last year, and X was predicted to make s deep tourney run ( FF or better,) by more than a few people. Unfortunately, neither came to fruition. Mman, are you suggesting what is predicted should garner greater consideration that what actually, FACTUALLY happened? My friend, substituting canola oil with motor oil when making french fries may be taking its toll on your cognitive functions. Though iIdo prefer the taste of Penzoil better.

do you know what the line for this game was, Anti? How did X do in their game last year against miami?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I do not. What was the line? I searched several sites. I have a friend in Vegas this weeked (I won the FSU game -21 btw), and as of the early afternoon, there was no line. I wouldn't have touched it anyway, since I knew their best player was matched up against our achilles heel: the bigs. I think Seam will be o.k.; solid offensively, good rebounder, subar defensively, and will often be in foul trouble. I see Gaston as a poor man's Larry Syke's. Great effort, good size, but lacks the skills ofa prototypical B.E. post player. I hope I'm wrong, but all he can do is his best.

Losing London is something I think the staff will regret for a loooong time. X has too much talent to not have a very good season, especially when Gates, and possibly Myles comes back. Even if we lost against Lehigh, the world wouldn't have come to an end. It's ok to acknowledge they didn't play well today. There will be 3-4 games a year they'll play subpar ball. Happens to all teams. Don't take it so personally. You're still in my top 400 favotrite posters on this board.

As I have mentioned depth and loss of bigs will be huge. Sean's defense and rim protection has been terrible. tim Kenpton looked like Jack Sikma tonight. Our bench has to do better especially Gaston who needs to defend and hit glass. Hopefully 8 and 3 by time Davis and Gayes are back.

Was very surprised at the shot Mack took at Bernard's "injury". Wonder if he has a history of "injuries"?. He is the only new player who so far has shown any ability to contribute. Mack wasn't very complimentary of Gaston. I have expected more from him myself.

Really good point on Makinde. Mack wa not prepare for that departure an I little more playing time could have lead him to stay. Mack will tell you we are a top 20 to 25 at best and we will get burnt by teams with size an quickness in best. Our ranking is based on Ed, Tre, and JP. trevon looked really good last night. Mack is going to have to put his defensive hat this year.

Lehigh has a good team, not near as athletic and big as some teams X is going to see this year. They're going to have to play unbelievably well on the perimeter with the lack of size, depth and athleticism inside to warrant a top 10 ranking based on what i've watched so far. It's hard for me to see as the season goes on O'mara staying out of foul trouble, but we'll see. Hopefully this team stays healthy as it's going to need all it's pieces.

the line was 4 seems you need a lesson in Goggle also. But then when you use an abacus as a calculator I expect you to be behind the curve instead of ahead.
