Whew! Coaches will have plenty of stuff for the team to work on. Can't imagine the film sessions will be a whole lot of fun.
On the other hand.....Lehigh is going to win a lot of games and help the RPI quite a bit.

That was tough to watch but the good news is that, in spite of TWC's lineups, I managed to watch it.
So far they are undefeated.

Poor defense, 18 turnovers, only 7 points off the bench, and couldn't put the game away. In fact, we gave Lehigh every opportunity to tie the game at the end. This is not Xavier basketball. I think they will hear that loud and clear!

Listing to mack's post-game interview leads me to think that some people on that Team 95 are going to get ripped a new one.

We have a long way to go to be a top ten team .Lot of new players to work into the mix. Ed ,Trey and JP are going to have to carry the load for a while. Chris took a shot at Bernard after the game for the "twisted ankle".

I think the hangover of sub par play after the regular season continues. X squeaked out a victory against a 500 team in the Patriot League, and had 18 t.o.s to boot, with an experienced back court. Basically, the same story as the scrimmage: TB & Sumner carried the team on their backs, and JP was sproadically good, though his shot selection left a lot to be desired. Good early play by O'Mara, which dissipated quickly. Gaston looked like the 9th player on the bench again, and the frosh looked like frosh. It's obviously very early, but not sure how much the previous 3 mentioned are going to help this year.
Kempton is a good player, but he should not make our bigs look like junior high guys. TB outrebounded O'Mara, Gaston, and Jones cumulatively. Ouch! CM has always been an offensive coach, preferring to outscore the other team (a la Skip) then stop the opponent from scoring, and it worked very well in the regular season last year. Not so much in the post.
Gates and Myles (should he ever earn his way back onto the team) will certainly help, but shouldn't have been needed against Lehigh. I was in favor of JP being suspended for 2 games for his boorish public behavior giving X a black eye, but knew that wouldn't happen when Myles lost his mind. As a fan, I'm glad he played. As an alum, dissapointed his behavior incurred no substantive consequences.
Let's hope Gates is ready by next week as suspected (Hops, need some inside info here). He's too tall for most 3's, and too quick for most 4's. I think he is poised to have a very good year.

Anti starting out this season as he ended last season with little knowledge of our opponents.Anti-Homer wrote:Anti-Homer wrote:I think the hangover of sub par play after the regular season continues. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
