I really will miss him if the suspension holds - he is or was an important part of the team. He hit sooo many clutch shots and will be missed. I am still holding out hope he can return (however slim) mainly for his sake even though he made a BIG mistake. Go Xavier!

You had to know this was coming, with school now back in session and basketball practice starting soon. Still doesn't change anything. Just have to wait and see how the criminal process goes, then the University internal process. Nothing has changed in that regard.

Re: Myles Davis suspended indefinitely by Chris Mack
Why did it take so long for C Mack to announce the suspension? Why is he permitted to play in the team softball game when the charges were already made public? With that being said...
I have really enjoyed Myles' development from a standstill jump shooter to both a shooter and a slasher. He is also X's best ball handler though Sumner is clearly the more explosive one.
Also what I have disliked about this thread is the sentiment from some that we have evolved into Huggins UC era Bearcats. First, what JP did was immature and childish but far from dangerous. Second, many people in this thread have acknowledged that the argument between Myles and the accuser was mutual and the relationship was toxic. It appears Myles over reacted but he is by no means Donald Little or Danny Fortson.
Further, I think Chris Mack has a strong track record of evaluating character and talent. This is demonstrated through the graduation rates of his players, the post basketball career employment of his players, and the fact his players return after college to work for him (Brian Thornton, Dante Jackson). Chris made a mistake in allowing Tu Holloway and Mark Lyons to speak after the UC game in 2011 but he also suspended those guys for meaningful games in the aftermath. He also required Lyons to graduate prior to releasing him.
The longwinded point I'm getting at is Myles was one of CM's captains last year, to me that means that in CM's eyes and those of his teammates he has demonstrated consistently good leadership and character over a long period. As an aside, Myles' Mom was one of the first people to Edmond Sumner's side when he was on the stretcher at Villanova last New Years Eve. The fact remains if we were all judged on our actions as 23 year olds, we probably wouldn't be in position to post on this message board. If Myles' personal development is in line with his development as a player, he will learn from this experience and be a better person going forward whether he plays for X this season or not.

While i was married with two kids by age 23 I know I was still prone to some heavy partying nights. Now this was not a party incident, but still from a relatively young man who likely was thinking with other than his head when these acts took place. Not defending them at all. No excuses, especially in this day and age and especially when you are a high profile athlete at a high profile school. My hope is that he will resolve his legal problems, get back in good standing before the season starts and help X to have a great season.
Does sound as though he is otherwise a good person from a good family. I am sure he has heard enough from his Mama to help him get back in line.
As for the tweets, I too would be interested in what he said. Not surprisingly Myles is limiting his followers on Twitter. My request is still pending.

As for the tweets I don't read them as being ominous, but rather as being from someone who is depressed over having been suspended indefinitely from his team (who sees a light at the end of that tunnel).olsingledigit wrote:While i was married with two kids by age 23 I know I was still prone to some heavy partying nights. I'm not aware that you have to be one of his followers to read the tweets: I simply logged on to my account, searched Myles Davis, and found his messages. (I don't think I ever requested to be one of his followers.)

Re: Myles Davis suspended indefinitely by Chris Mack
I suspect that this a situation where Myles has been told that until the legal proceedings play themselves out, and everything is satisfactorily resolved, you can't participate with any "team" functions. But after that is accomplished he will be allowed to rejoin the team. Any other "punishment" will probably be reflected in his playing time, or lack thereof. I am equally sure that he will not be allowed any type of "screw up" from here on out. Mack has been around long enough to see how other players have been handled by various coaches, even in their senior years, up to and including dismissal. I believe that by the time one is a 23 year old, 5th year senior, a player has a pretty good idea of what it takes to prepare for the season. Myles missing the individual and group workouts in Sept./Oct. will not be a major problem for either him or the team. He will come back prepared and able to concentrate on having a great final season.

I think this is pretty accurate. As far as playing time, I don't think that is even part of the equation at this time. Myles has to see this thing through, get the legal aspect of this resolved and do whatever he needs to in order to get himself back in a position to rejoin the team. If he does all of that and he is reinstated, he will and should be treated equally as far as playing time goes.
