It was well known before he signed and definitely before he showed up on campus. They knew.thecoach wrote:Don't know for certain, but he could actually have visa issues given he pleaded guilty to the charges in Canada and assuming he's a Canadian citizen. Did the coaching staff know of those charges when they signed him?

There was additional disciplinary action taken because of recent behavior.

Its called depth. We have no margin for error with injury or foul trouble in the postskyhops wrote:Jones will most likely not see much of the floor. He is very raw and not much is expected from him

Re: Ekiyor (Fact)
Unfortunately, it looks like 2012 offseason redux. Me heard some in the admin were not happy when CM went after EE, considering his baggage. Seems their thinking has been vindicated. Not sure why X is having all this turnover again. Thank God they talked O'Mara into staying, since London left. Talent with this team is still there, but depth and program stability is lacking. Here's hoping for better days for the Muskie faithful.LHSMuskie wrote:and the hits just a keep on a coming. .early leaving, transfers, etc just not staying....

Re: Ekiyor (Fact)
Mack is going to tear it up on the recruiting trail again. The reality is, these are big time program problems and we have avoided them to date. Would be nice to have some stability in the culture but the reality is that if we want to begin to dip our toe in the water with top recruits, we are going to be taking some risk.Anti-Homer wrote:Unfortunately, it looks like 2012 offseason redux. Couldn't agree more! A lot has been written about all the transfers that happen at Duke: some for playing time, some for discipline. All major programs go through this, and we are now a major program. We'll be fine! We have a great team this season, and great recruits coming in.

You can't compare us with Duke especially considering Macks lack of tourney success. Eddie was a mistake and he was asked to leave.

Think you are missing the point, Sky. Or maybe I did a poor job making it.skyhops wrote:You can't compare us with Duke especially considering Macks lack of tourney success. Eddie was a mistake and he was asked to leave.

I agree with much of this, but I don't know many programs who have experienced this much tumult twice in the last four years. Unprecedented in the history of X bball.

Agreed, but it hasn't resulted in duplicating the same success of his two most recent predecessors, though I think CM is still feeling his way somewhat as the HC. He also did a tremendous job coaching during the regular season last year. Some may say the early exit in both tourneys, despite being clear favorites nullifies the regular season success, but I disagree. He earned the accolades, regardless what happened after. Hopefully, he can have success in all 3 parts of the season next year.
Back to the main topic, I'd rather take a good kid with lesser talent w/integrity, then pursue recruits with more talent, but w/baggage. It's the same reason we crucified UC during the Huggin's years. Also, with X getting into the Big East, they have been able to ratchet up X's ability to recruit with the majors, which made the recruiting of EE that much more perplexing. We recruited EE on the heels of his being accussed to hitting a cop on a bike, and driving off. It's not fair for me to say what occurred w/certainty, b/c I don't know exactly what happened, but perhaps it would have been more prudent to do more due dilligence on him. Also, his subsequent, recent misdeed at X (reported by Hops who has been spot on with many things reported prior to it being know to us not on the inside), cripples our depth even more, especially if Jones is ruled academically ineligible.
The good news is X still has a very strong top 7-8 players, so the season is still bright. Subsequent ones have huge question marks however.
