LaSalle, how many tickets left?
Xavier is ranked 15, just came off a huge road win, and there are tickets left? Will this game sell out?

They should do a campaign to recruit more students and fill those seats with drunken college kids!! Get the people in the upper levels to stand up.

And according to everything I read and hear including today's Enquirer and the Sean Miller program the other night, there is no TV! Boy with them being off this week and no TV Saturday it is a long dry spell for us out-of-towners. Any chance of any feed on channelsurfing.net. I refuse to pay the $10 to watch it on the Xavier streaming. I can't complain like the OSU fans up here most of whose games are on Big Ten Network that most here don't get.
It's just what somebody thinks ...

I appreciate your passion for the game but I hope they don't stand up in the upper section. I have 5 seats including tix for my kids that are short and 10, 7, and 4. One reason I'm a little higher is because people do stand in the lower section which makes it hard if not impossible for my kids to see. I have had season tix for the last 10 years at the Gardens and every year at Cintas. I would imagine that this has been longer than some fans. Hopefully, they don't stand so my kids can see the game. As for drunken college kids, that's just stupid.tacitus wrote:They should do a campaign to recruit more students and fill those seats with drunken college kids!! But the craziest games are the ones where the student sections are bursting and all wound up (we'll assume they haven't been drinking). You have to admit that the Cintas, while gorgeous and state of the art, can be pretty dead, even for big games. I was in the student section for the crosstown Shootout in '99, and that was by far the greatest sporting event I have ever been a part of. The students were in huge numbers and loud the entire game. And I'd like to think that crowd had something to do with the victory. But lets face it, alumni just don't get quite as pumped up as the students. Since we have gone corporate, we now have several hundred spectators who have very loose affiliation with Xavier and who ultimately couldn't care less who wins. A rowdy home crowd is a team's 6th player on the court. I'm all for making money, but winning is more important. In fact, winning secures more money... I'm all for increasing student sections and for campaigning to get more students at any game. Some big time schools are limiting student tickets... or initiating questionable student ticket policies which make them harder to get, so that they can sell more tickets... I really hope that never happens at X. I'm also definitely for your children having clear line of sight... no one should be denied the opportunity to see the musketeers!

Re: LaSalle, how many tickets left?
ok so there are many games where Cintas is not rocking... but its hard to be pumped for the entire game when Xavier has a comfortable lead. When its a good game and close, people are more rowdy. I've heard this time and time again on the board - why aren't people more enthusiastic? Why do people sit instead of stand? As the previous poster, I have had season tickets since the Gardens and although I don't sit in the lower level, I still pay a lot of money (at least for me). I personally don't want to stand the entire game, every game. I want to sit and watch the team and when they do great plays, stand up and yell. I also bring my 2 children and for me to stand the entire game is just not practical. I know on tv we see other "schools" where its rowdy. But mostly its the student section and ours stands and jumps around too. When the periodically show other seats, I see sitting and lots of it. So quit complaining.

You've obviously never been in Rupp Arena for, well any game, in which the crowd is brought to their feet so easily, and hard to make sit back down, and for big games the crowd doesn't shut up. Do you know how many kids are in Rupp Arena for a game? Do you know how much those close to the court pay? Yet they all get rowdy. Cintas is very nice... and we should all be grateful... just a bit too cozy at times.Muskie1000 wrote:ok so there are many games where Cintas is not rocking... but its hard to be pumped for the entire game when Xavier has a comfortable lead. I don't care as much about, a blowout. Heck, even during a blowout I think we should root them on. But a game where we are up ten or so, and it is still quiet (except the student section)? With a little fan support that could easily turn into a blowout. In stead of being their driving force... they have to be ours. Don't compare that to some of the
We are just fortunate that our team plays in the Cintas with pride, and that students come out for big games. Otherwise we wouldn't have a homecourt advantage at all.

Re: LaSalle, how many tickets left?
Let us thank our lucky stars, our God or our gods, whatever, that we have a full house, and that the place can get loud when it needs to. Yes, we could wish for rowdy, rowdier, rowdiest...but many of the rowdy locations I've been at have been inhospitable, hostile, embarrassing experiences. My ex kept the season tickets, and has traveled even to Olean for games. She used to love to go up to Dayton. It's just too hostile there these days, morons screaming at and threatening Xavier fans. If you aren't under 40 and at least 6-2 200, things are miserable.
The so-called Tennessee banner incident at the Cintas, the recent carping about "foreign" fans in the luxury boxes, this seems like the lousy side of "rowdy."
A ticket to the game is a license for each of us to enjoy the game the way we want. Sure I would like the fans to be a little louder in that 10-point-lead situation, but I am not complaining. Let Xavier fans, each in their individual way, support the team, enjoy the game.
Full disclosure: I was in the middle of the famous St. Joe boo-bird controversy on MM in 2003. And I guess I still draw the line at "rowdy" including the "right" to boo our team and scream at our coach after a close loss. We seem to be past that, but I am not sure if I'm being consistent.

Your absolutely right, and I cannot and will not complain about any individual fan who comes with his kids and wants to sit down most of the game...CarlosTheJackal wrote: A ticket to the game is a license for each of us to enjoy the game the way we want. at the same time, for this very reason, I find all the more unfortunate that the trend across America is to systematically force students out of the arenas to make room for such fans, or for corporations or even general sales. It completely changes the dynamic of the game.
I won't comment on when it gets ugly... I am of course against fighting and serious verbal abuse of visiting fans. But particular chants and calling out opposing players and coaches and even a little trash talking in the stands is all part of the game. I don't know where the line is (beside the aforementioned)...
I just know that more students are good. Full arenas are good. Its a shame when students don't show up, when the arena doesn't sell out, and when season ticket holders don't show up for games like LaSalle...
