This is getting ridiculous!!!
Everyday I wake up hoping that the NCAA has decided on Crawford, everyday has been no news. Now we're 1 day away from our first game and we still have no word. We're not the only team in the country, by far, waiting on word from the NCAA. These kids are trying to play a full season and they could be practicing with the first team. Doesn't all this kind of contradict the fact that these kids are trying to play this year and not next? I'm just a little fed up with this lack of professionalism by the NCAA; shouldn't they being trying to show these kids a little more respect and teach them the proper way to run a business so they don't graduate and turn into derelicts like the NCAA staff??

A few more punctuation marks there, BL.
This topic has been discussed ad naus. On the one side, there are the clear rules and the lack of any exceptions for transferring from a rogue program. On the other side, there is a delayed appeal that was filed late by Xavier, supposedly for strategic reasons.
X and Crawford are trying for a long shot. The NCAA is not bound to process every appeal, regardless of its merit, on short notice. Take a calm pill.

Easy on the medical mumbo-jumbo, Carlos. We're not all physicians, you know.

Re: This is getting ridiculous!!!
From Andy Katz's blog of Nov. 11th--
• I still don't see how Jordan Crawford has a case to be eligible at Xavier immediately without sitting out the year. Xavier still is waiting to see whether he will be ready to go. If the NCAA offers Crawford a waiver to play immediately, they should get rid of the rule about sitting out one year. The rule already is a bit of a mockery, so we'll see whether the NCAA holds its ground on this one or rewards someone who left a program that still hasn't received its own NCAA fate. If I were at Indiana, I wouldn't support Crawford being eligible immediately unless the NCAA guaranteed Georgetown guard Jeremiah Rivers could play for the Hoosiers immediately.

Of course not, Q, but he is a pretty knowledgeable college b-ball commentator, and I think his observation is fair.
WE want Crawford to be eligible, but impartial observers may well see it differently. We are far from impartial on this issue.

jct1941 pointed out in the thread posted above that there are players that have been given permission to play after transferring which says there is a precedent.
Dustin Dow pointed out that the NCAA is under no time frame to get this done...they will take their good time and probably rule on U before they let the guys that transferred know their fate. It might not be fair but we are taking about the NCAA and they have no heart like XavierBob has pointed out to me.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

That is apples and oranges.
One player left a program that is facing major suspensions for multiple NCAA infractions and that player doesn't want to suffer the punishment of what he had no control over.
The other player is just flat out transferring for personal reasons.
Because his comments are baseless "his observation is NOT fair."

Re: This is getting ridiculous!!!
Mr Neutral - My point is that the NCAA is soooo inconsistent. In 1991 they install a "hardship" rule and I have no way of knowing in that span of time how many applied for a exception of sitting out for a year, but now several players are using it and at least two of them have been granted permission to play. I also don't know if our info is correct in Crawford case. If he was in good academic standing (which we think he was) and would have stayed at Indiana if allowed (again if that is a fact that was reported) is that not enough of a hardship for him. It was definetely not his fault that Sampson was CAUGHT not once but twice at different schools for breaking NCAA's rules. Certainly I am bias in his behalf, but I think he should be able to play this year. Also, with coaches leaving for greener pastures or being forced to leave for breaking rules should not be taken out on the players. Finally, I do think that the "sit out one year" rule should be dropped. It has not prevented players from changing schools even when they do have to sit out re: Graves.

Different sport and circumstances, I know, but the NCAA still hasn't ruled on Reggie Bush's antics at USC. It's only been what, four years?
