Any thoughts about putting synthetic turf on the field so that more sports could use it without tearing it up?
(And, yes, I know turf as a definite 2nd choice to real grass, but if we're looking at the economics of this, and wear-and-tear on the field, it would have to be an option.)

Re: Musketeer Football
My bad: the football game tomorrow night at 7 PM, with Thomas More, is at Shea Stadium in Norwood, not Withrow. Having seen every home game in the last three years, I can vouch for a good time and plenty of great football!

2 of my roommates last year played club football and they practiced on the field...I'm sure they don't play games there because of the lack of goalposts

Re: Musketeer Football
The team in 1973 finished 5-5-1; not great but hardly the lack lustre records of 1-9 of the previous two years but that's in the past/ The club team has practiced on the Corcoran site; I imagine that with the soccer teams and other club sports that scheduling is a problem as is the fact that the field isn't marked/lined for footbal. Additionally, I believe the dimensions aren't appropriate.
Not sure about the wear/tear issue but sure seems to me that other schools allow for soccer/football play on the this kind of turf (St. X).
Lockland Stadium is a nice venue. X could put up some stands at Corcoran nand make the appropriate adjustments to the field to accomodate 5 home games a year at a non-scholarship level especially if the O'Connor Center is being replaced with a new rec center. But for the time being, support the Muskie gridders!!!!

Re: Musketeer Football
I stand corrected yet again; tonight's game with Thomas More is at Withrow, 7 PM. The Homecoming Game on Oct 18 will be at Shea Stadium in Norwood, at noon.

It was a damn shame that the program was discontinued just when in 1973 as you pointed out, the team went 5-5-1 under Tom Checcini and looked like things would finally turn around. The last few Saturdays I've seen all our old opponents playing on TV. Everybody from Bowling Green, Villanova, Youngstown St, Marshall, Miami, UC and so on bringing good exposure for there schools and their programs. I suppose its only wishful thinking that the sport could be resurrected, but I must say that as a student and a student broadcaster of the games on WVXU 91.7, those fall Saturdays, even when things were not going well, really provided the students with a rallying point and were an awful lot of fun!
