The content could have been basic, including season opener information for the Fall Sports and something on the New Year's Eve Basketball Match-Ups.

Additionally, a map of the schools and a few items highlighting each member could have been rolled out for "Day One."

None of this would have been difficult to include, even at this early stage.
That is pretty much what I saw on the AAC site and made me further wonder why the BE could not manage that. At least a welcome message. All I saw was links to the schools. Let's see how soon the promise of more to come is fulfilled.

Couldn't a few of the member schools have allowed their PR/Athletic staffers to do a bit of this basic work for these simple Conference matters?

The implication from both Christopher and Mack at the Steak Fry was that the presidents council and the ADs were doing what they could to keep things moving forward until a Commissioner was hired, so I doubt they would have been able to pull this together very easily.

Was my thought too. I knew about the lack of staff but a little more would not have been hard using resources from the schools. They did manage a pic of the commish front and center! How hard to include a welcome message?

I hope that is a temporary picture.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

A well designed website can take months to develop. It's bad enough when you have just a couple people involved but site by committee can be a nightmare for the design team not alone the graphics group.
It is not as easy as the majority of people think and a site for the Big East can run into big bucks.

@AndyGlockner @jeffborzello Agree totally. The breakup is bad for UConn, Georgetown, etc. But Providence, Seton Hall and others needed it.

Latest Xavier Alumni magazine has a very interesting take on the formation of the new BE, in my opinion at least. Especially the comments of Yahoo sports columnist Pat Forde, and the comments of David Gibson, a writer for the Religious News Service.

I also found the breakdown of the other schools as far as their average attendence and program highlights to be very enlightening......I did not realize that except for Xavier and Creighton, EVERY other school has at least one appearance in the NCAA final 4 sometime in the schools history (even DePaul has two!). It also looks like X won't have to worry about playing in front of 2-3000 fans while on the road anymore. Butler has the lowest average attendence @ 6,599 and Creighton the highest @ 16,665. The others average between 6,941 (Seton Hall) and 15,138 (Marquette).

Things are going to be different... :D
