What some of you don't apparently understand is that Marquette is the BEST job available in College Basketball right now. This is the Big East, and there will be no shortage of PRIME candidates(I think some of the names that will apply for this job would shock a lot of people).

Marquette is also capable of paying 2.5-3.0 million per year for the right guy. I don't know how realistic a guy like Calipari is, but I do agree with the original MU poster that said that is a call that HAS to be made. It would have to be tempting to move from Conference USA to the best basketball conference in the land wouldn't you think?? Just as it would have to be VERY tempting to move from the A10, to a conference as prestigious as the BE and especially if you can do it for 2.0 million plus wouldn't you agree??
But you have to live in Milwaukee - with cheeseheads.

I heard they're waiting to talk to Roy Williams after the Final Four is over. They do think highly of themselves over there. Apparently the buyout of Crean's contract is in the neighborhood of $8 million according to some fans.

The best job available right now is Oklahoma State. They've got a batshiat crazy benefactor over there named T. Boone Pickins who's offering $5 mil a season to Bill Self. This crazy dude has given tens if not hundreds of millions to the athletic department at OSU. It's disgusting to think how much tuition and academic facilities that that kind of money could pay for.

Didn't UMass have their 1996 record in the NCAA Tourney negated and the final four was vacated because of Marcu Camby's acceptance of agents' improper gifts?
Their banner for that Final Four still hangs in the Mullins Center. I thought it was interesting when I was up there and saw it.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I heard that the buyout was around $500,000 which sounds more realistic than 8 mil. They need to form a new league with UD...The Idiot Fans League

From Dustin's blog.

Good stuff and hilarious how "in the know" the muscoop and Milwaukee writers are:

"**I just talked with Bobinski about all this Marquette/Indiana/Cal stuff. He said he and Miller were in Bobinski's office last night around 6:45 when a reporter from Milwaukee called. The reporter told Bobinski that word was that Miller was going to be in town (Milwaukee) that night and meeting with Marquette that night or Thursday morning. Bobinski and Miller, sitting three feet from each other on XU's campus, got a good laugh out of that. Miller doesn't appear to be going anywhere, and Bobinski said with "no disrespect to Marquette" but as far as Miller's concerned, the Marquette job isn't on par with the Xavier one. As I said in the comments of this post, he believes that big things can be achieved at Xavier and is committed to that goal. Xavier is probably in a more secure position now than it was five years ago in committing itself to making XU a destination type job for someone like Miller.

Anyway, Bobinski said Miller and the XU administration had a "first phase" discussion about Miller's new deal. They'll sit down again after the Final Four."

The difference between our program with Bobinkski at the helm, versus Dawn Rogers, is amazing.

Whatever happened to Yawn, er, I mean, Dawn? I did a google search and got two entries about her Xavier resignation followed by multiple singer/songwriter entries and the diary of some runaway in South Dakota. You don't think they are one and the same do you (lol)?!?!?

Per the ASU Athletic Dept. website, she's one of several Senior Associate Athletic Directors.

However, she's the only one who's also a "Senior Women's Administrator".

[quote="marquetteman"] Admit it or not, like it or not, MU is definitely a step up from XU. It's the Big East, the best basketball conference in the country.

Dillusional and confused.

Tell me how many Big Least teams made the Elite 8 this year. 1. The exact number as the A10 and Marquette wasnt that team. The Pac10, ACC and the Big12 were better than the BE this year.

Marquette was not in the top 20 among most valuable basketball programs and does not have their own arena.

MU is most likely a side step but it could be argued a step down from Xavier.
