1.) Give credit to the Flyer fans for showing up. They were there in pretty good numbers, but were only heard until about the 19:20 mark of the first half.

2.) Why oh why do they insist to keep talking crap even when they are losing by 30 points. When I went to Temple, I didn't say a word to their fans when we were down by 25 because that doesn't make any sense. When your team wins by 30, you have more than the right to talk a little smack, but the UD fans are truly dillusional people and I don't think I really realized it until last night.

3.) I was sitting by a ud fan that was spelling out d-a-y-t-o-n when the xavier fans spell out x-a-v-i-e-r after the fight song. He did this until the very last time it was played and it was really getting on my nerves. He ranted on about how XU stole their cheer and a bunch of other crap. If you are out there UD fans LISTEN UP! There are other college basketball teams than the one in your economically troubled town! There are much better teams and teams with more tradition and certainly more respect. Do everyone in the college basketball world a favor and shut up, because everyone is sick of your immaturity and your pure disregard for everything that college basketball is about.

I'm sure the people at Ilinois who cheer I-L-L-I-N-I, and at tOSU cheering O-H-I-O will immediately cease and desist since they too, have apparently stolen UD's cheer. Spelling out your school's name or mascot. Who'd a thunk it?
Golf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

Put yourself in the position of a UD fan. You live in a town that sucks and the only decent sports team is UD. You have no pro teams, no college football, nothing else to cheer for except UD basketball.

Your basketball team is in a conference that is dominated by Xavier, a university just 50 miles down the road. And Xavier is a team that historically (1920s-1960s) you dominated.

You have tried everything in recent history to catch up with your "rival" down the road. You paid players, you hired a hotshot coach from MSU, and you have tried to recruit head-to-head against Xavier. But nothing works.

Slowly you start to realize several things:

1. UD will never pass Xavier as basketball program.
2. UD basketball, the only show in town, will always be second fiddle to that little school in Cincinnati.
3. Even in the best of times, you can't beat Xavier on the road and you will be subjected to "Jimmy Carter" chants for the rest of your life.

So what is a UD fan to do? You grasp on to whatever you can...you claim that you have more "class", remind people that you own the all-time series lead, and say that "in a few years" UD will be better.

You do anything but admit that UD basketball will always and forever be little brother to Xavier. Because once you admit that, there will be nothing left for the pathetic little town of Dayton, OH.

Let them cheer all they want, I am just tired of the whining. They complain about fouls yet more were called on X, UD went to the free throw line more than X did. They were missing two of their better players and their best player was "sick" and has been for a month. Bottom line is if they were that great of a team they would have had other players scoring when Roberts was being hounded. The fact is they didn't. If you are a real fan, then what you should have said is we got it handed to us by a better team who wanted it more. Overall records are in the past and they mean nothing in this year's standings. The next thing X needs to worry about, Stanley especially, is come with that same intensity the rest of the year. If you do that, they will go a long way in March.

Nice quote! Someone should read it to Chad Johnson.

I have no problem with Dayton, UC, Temple, or any other team's fans. The only types of fan to drop haterade on would be bandwagon jumpers, if someone went to UD or is from Dayton and they come to the Cintas Center to cheer for UD, and they want to talk about the superiority of their university, then they should be able to do that, even if they are down 40 points. Let's show some love, I mean they have to have some good qualities, right?

UD is a very good program. However, in the last twenty years X has been better. They are frustrated because everytime something posative happens to UD, X usually does something better soon afterwards.

Amen! Learning to win with class is more difficult then one would think.

PosAtive or posItive?

Nevermind.

ud is NOT a very good program. All hatred aside, dayton hasn't been a good program since the early 80s. Purnell tried to bring them back but got wise and ran to Clempson.

dayton fans are frustrated because they so badly want to be where X is. Xavier is in a great place with great people running and supporting the program. One coach leaves and the replacement doesn't miss a beat getting the team back to winning and the NCAA tournament.
