Watching OSU vs. IU

Postby X Factor » Tue Feb 26, 2008 7:48 pm

What a pitiful game. OSU has no offensive flow and they can't hit the broadside of a barn. Their offense consists of chucking up threes indiscriminently and when they try to go inside, Koufus can't finish.

If OSU loses this one, put a fork in 'em, unless they win the Big Ten tourney.

IU doesn't look all that great either. They are launching three's also, and not connecting on many. IU plays poor defense. Guys just standing around, not closing out on anyone, not fighting through screens.

I know Xavier already beat IU, but I think we would beat them worse if we played them again, and we would put a whoopin' on OSU too.

edit: just checked the OSU message board...someone posted that this is the "most underachieving OSU team" they have seen in 28 years.

I can't say if it's the most OSU underachieving team in 28 years, but it must be a very frustrating team for its fans.

Koufos isn't as developed as people might have thought, and Diebler even more so. Turner makes spectacular plays-and killer turnovers, like he just did on a blown fastbreak. Butler can put up 30, or go 3-17.

I'm sure Matta thought they'd be farther along. At least he's better off than John Brady, who had LSU in the Final Four in '06 and is now unemployed, and Bruce Weber, who was in the Final 3 years ago, and is now on the hotseat at Illinois. It's a funny game.

Oh that's right, Thad Matta is the coach of tOSU team that is the most underachieving in the last 28 years. Man, sure glad we have Sean and probably the BEST ever team at X. Yes, Mr. N you heard me correctly, the BEST ever.

vee, you know I love ya, but let's be fair. Miller took over a team that lost a ton of talent, went 17-12 and no postseason.

Matta's team lost the #1, #4 and #21 picks in the NBA draft, and now they're struggling. Go figure.

I know you're elsewhere, vee, but things to remember-

After Pete went 25-5 (10-2), he went 15-12 (7-5)in the regular season before going 4-1 in the MCC and NCAA.

After Pete went 22-10 (11-3), he went 15-12 with no postseason.

After Skip went 23-5 (14-0), he went 13-15 (8-8) with no postseason.

Even Coach K went 11-17 in his 3rd year.

So, down years are inevitable for every program.

His choice!

He grabbed the brass ring with rentals ... and hurt his program badly.

Back out his guarantee wins this season and he's .500 at best ...

Actually, Wise, Oden, Conley and Cook made their OWN choice to go pro, but, hey, why let the facts get in the way?

Some of Miller's wins in '04-'05: mighty Oakland, fearsome Lehigh, scary IPFW, national contender Marshall; take away those four wins and you've got a 13-12 season.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, Wise.
