Where were the XU cheerleaders today?

Postby Chris '89 » Sun Feb 24, 2008 10:32 pm

I noticed that today's game and the UD vs X game in January that the visiting teams' cheerleaders were not courtside. In years past, both squads attended the game with the lift off happening at halftime (where a male cheerleader holds up his female partner and the schools see who can hold up a female cheerleader longer). Any one have any insights into this?

That lift is dangerous. I saw a North Carolina cheerleader knocked cold when she was dropped to the floor. Probaly kjust a question of tickets not being available and from what I've heard fans in Dayton have been very unkind to X cheerleaders--verbally.

For the record, Dayton did not send their cheerleaders, nor their mascot to Cintas this year, which I found strange. I can only guess that each were sick of dealing with the heckling of fans.

My understanding, from a parent of a cheerleader, is that there were complaints (not sure which side if not both) that the visiting cheerleaders block the view of the game for patrons. Given they are usually at a spot on the court where there typically aren't cheerleaders, I can see where the complaints come from. Although for this game, I would let it go.

This was the case back in the dark ages which I can vouch for. And it's had to get worse considering back then we weren't even a threat. Now that we're pretty much dominant, they have to be worse.
It's time for a bourbon on the rocks!
