Box Score Notes

We only took 37 shots in a game, to 53 for Dayton? That is less than a shot a minute. 16 TOs didn't help, but as I think back, Sean took the air out of the ball, we were going deep into the shot clock on most possessions in the second half.
Stanley 5 of our total 7 assists, on 17 baskets, ouch! Drew played 33 min, but we were hiding him on offense and defense.

Once again, outstanding coaching.
One the road, had the lead, had two big men in foul trouble, had a point guard playing at best 75%, and kept the crowd out of it by making sure there was not going to be a "run."
He knew that it would get down to the end, and that free thows were our friend.

If you remember Sean's first year when he tried to make Finn our go-to guy and how we lost 4/5 games in the last minute and how this board for the next two years was still on Sean--what a great change. We actually expect to win every close game.
Matta was not my favorite, but the one thing I liked about his coaching style was his flexibility. He always stayed close in away games knowing that his players and FT's could put them in a position to win the game in the end and if that meant patience on offense, that is what he did.
Sean has learned that from Matta. Plus, referee's calls will be different on the road; backdrops for shooting will be different and more pressure will be there. You can not play the game the same at home and away against good competition.
Coaching, they say, is worth no more than 4 or 5 points a game. I think we have a coach!
