From DD's blog:
Burrell: unfiltered and passionate

If you read the Dayton Daily News today, you might have seen this story in which the Flyers' Brian Roberts said that when XU and UD met earlier this season he was suffering from flu symptoms that contributed to him scoring just five points.

Stanley Burrell got word of the story before tipoff today and went out and hassled Roberts into a 4-for-14 shooting night. Afterward, Burrell talked about his inspiration:

“The managers gave me a little motivation before the game started. Showing me how Roberts talked about how he was sick the last game. I don’t make excuses. I’ve been battling an elbow injury the whole year, and I haven’t said one thing. I’m out here just playing hard, trying to lead my team. It’s about winning championships. Anybody can come out here and put up a bunch of shots and get 20 points.
“Lead your team. Be a senior and lead your team. That’s what it’s all about with me, leading my team anyway I can.”

I didn't think Stanley would get Robert's scalp three time this year but I was wrong. Way to go Hammer.

Great quote... Has this kid grown in 4 years or what??? Last year he was the one throwing up a bunch of shots to get 20 now he is a true leader turning it on in his senior year much like the others seniors we have had go thru here the last few seasons...

Roberts was sick again according to this ESPN write-up:

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=280552168

"Dayton leads the series 80-65, but Xavier has won the past five, including a 69-43 win last month in Cincinnati. That was the start of Dayton's problems, as Roberts sat out most of the second half then because of a respiratory infection. He finished with five points."

It must hurt when one submits oneself to a backroom castration by Dr. Burrell. We should make castration legal.

Stan has arrived at David West status because the flyer faithful have ripped him for his comment rather than look and see he is correct about Roberts. They think Burrell is a punk so West is soft and Stan is a punk. Good company.

Stan, Roberts will be watching you play in the NCAA again from his couch somewhere in the ghetto.
