Burrell: unfiltered and passionate
If you read the Dayton Daily News today, you might have seen this story in which the Flyers' Brian Roberts said that when XU and UD met earlier this season he was suffering from flu symptoms that contributed to him scoring just five points.
Stanley Burrell got word of the story before tipoff today and went out and hassled Roberts into a 4-for-14 shooting night. Afterward, Burrell talked about his inspiration:
“The managers gave me a little motivation before the game started. Showing me how Roberts talked about how he was sick the last game. I don’t make excuses. I’ve been battling an elbow injury the whole year, and I haven’t said one thing. I’m out here just playing hard, trying to lead my team. It’s about winning championships. Anybody can come out here and put up a bunch of shots and get 20 points.
“Lead your team. Be a senior and lead your team. That’s what it’s all about with me, leading my team anyway I can.”
