GOOD AND BAD FROM DEVEROES (Saturday 24th)

GOOD - Holloway took Slats from 10 down in the second half on his back and pulled out the game with 33 points most of which came in crunch time. Lyons had 29 points and did everything he could but his team lost. They will obviously be our starting guards and we will be very solid there.
BAD - Actually, not really so bad. The freshmen on Deer Park roofing lost again to a team made up of mostly Cincinnati State players (except for Horace and Rush) and got killed by 20 points. However, they did show flashes of some strong play. Deer Park really needed some strong guard play and it has not been there and that meant that the bigs had to bring the ball up the court and many succombed to double teams. If they would have had a Holloway or Lyons they would have been much more competitive. Deer Park will miss the tournament so unless the other teams pick some of them up this league will be over for them.
Jeff Robinson looks much improved but still needs to be more aggressive. McClean, Jackson and Frease all looked good (Frease only played one game). I am (as always) looking forward to the season and I do think we will be very good. Go Xavier!
