#1 its run by a blogger
#2 It may be a good assessment as I didn't see any summer league.
#3 It probably is similar to all the preseason Top 25 polls in AP, ESPN, and the 40 other magazines.
#4 it may be similar to predictions on this board of X's starting lineup, stats, and W-L record.

All valid points, keith, but my guess is if JC was #11 and Stephenson was #18, our opinion of the rankings would be different.

We always tend to like/believe those rankings that favor us, and disbelieve those that aren't as favorable. We're very predictable that way.

not all of us, we do have a few that can find a negative in a beautiful sunset.

I was only using "we" to be polite. I meant you guys.

I know we all like good news, but it it humorously predicatable how we really, really like any poll/ranking that says good things about X or our players, but we look askance at anything that doesn't confirm our preconceived notions.

Or some may take the position that hope springs eternal and that to be negative just so you are not let down is useless worry. those that are neative look at it as reality and those that look for the bright side see reality a little different.

Someone said once: " Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same. "

First of all, polls and rankings are just opinions. I think they're fascinating because they're an outsider's opinion of something. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong, but they're NOT right or wrong because I want them to be right or wrong.

Second, you can have both subjective and objective opinions. I WANT Xavier, the White Sox and the Bulls to win their respective titles. That doesn't mean I THINK they will. Any logical person has to be able to separate what they hope happens from what they think will happen.

If you can't separate reality from wishful thinking, you are going to be wrong a LOT.

of course hope doesn't mean that in the end your team will win but if you go into a season expecting not to win the why invest yourself in a team. When we were at X I always hoped... How can a person call themselve a fan if they have no hope that this will be the year. When you have those feeling Gary, think NCstate vintage 83.

mm, this isn't about "hope". This is simply about acknowledging that an opinion different from yours may be valid. It doesn't lack credibility JUST because you don't agree with it. A poll or ranking that you don't agree with doesn't have any less (or more) credibility JUST because you feel otherwise.

of course I never said yours or other’s opinions lack credibility you just seem to feel a victim when other disagree with you.
as for pools or rankings in sports they remind me of the conversation about everybody having opinions and _______.
